Hello. This is my first post on the forums - which have been very useful in answering a lot of my questions - thank you much for those that take the time to help! Loving BAIB - it's a fantastic compliment to my performance!
It would be great if someone can suggest a method in creating a "custom" click track.
I've created a song in which the full band does not come in until bar 41. I'd like to have a hihat sound on the down beats for the first 40 bars only, so I am in perfect time when the band comes in at 41.
Have tried creating and saving my own style (hihat only), then choosing it as substyle c/d within the existing style (which is using RealDrums)- although I still have only access to the original a/b style, even though the "partmarker" window shows c/d exists.
I've also tried using the hihat only style at bar 1 & change the style to the RealDrums style using the "bar settings" at bar 41...this results in an "access violation" message when I press play, and I must reload the song (my antivirus is off)
My "substitute real drums for midi drums" is unchecked in the Realdrums preferences dialog.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Ryan

You could try using the Clicktrk.sty (click track style to get started) It is located here. http://www.pgmusic.com/support_other.htm#clicktrack

Hi Ryan, and welome to the forum!
I use the Melody or Soloist track to do just that for songs that have long intros where I want to create the illusion that the band is sitting out and then comes in at the right time.
The trick, after entering the notes where you want them, probably one hit on each beat per bar, is to change the MIDI channel for the Melody or Soloist, whicheve one you use, to MIDI channel 10, which is the Percussion Track. The note choice determines which percussion sound you get. For example, Closed Hihat is Gb3.
I have a file I created quite a few BB versions back that I use to perform Zawinul's "Mercy Mercy Mercy" in which I emulate the original Cannonball Adderley band's recording where just the Rhodes piano does the long intro.
I now use it with RealDrums invoked by making sure I'm in Notation View, Melody Track so that I can see the hihat notes highlight as the songfile runs. I hear Realdrums when the band comes in, using the visual cues of the notation highlighting as a visual clicktrack to play the long opener to and with just a little practice time am able to pull it off quite convinvingly. You might like to give that a try as well, whether using MIDI or RealDrums for your endeavor, as the audience won't hear the hihat. If using MIDI drums, you can set the notes in your click track to a very low Velocity setting such that they are not heard or just barely heard while you use the visual cue note highlighting as your guide.
Hope this helps,
--Mac

Thank you everyone for these suggestions.
I will try them all & find out which one works best for me.
Adding them in the piano roll seems simple enough. I've tried to add the hihats on a separate track in RB, to no avail..and now know where to find the percussion track! So I'm sure that will work. This will definitely get me on my way. Seeing the click visually is a great idea - I'll see if I can get used to that.
Having this support is a real bonus to a fantastic program! Very happy with my decision to go with PGmusic. Thank you again,
Ryan
