Here is a challenge. I have received a pdf document that requires signing. A pdf document being what it is cannot be edited. I anyone aware/uses a software that lets one paste a jpg tif signature onto the document. I have tried using PDF XChange view (freeware) with no success. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks DennisD

When I receive those, they come with instructions to print it, sign it and mail it back.

With Adobe Acrobat and some other such programs, you can produce a PDF that people can fill in blanks, such as on forms, but I've never seen one that accepted a signature - how would you write it? Even with my Wacom tablet, I can't read my own signature.

I hope someone does have an answer.

Quickest would be to print it, sign it, scan it back and send ...
Do you have any Adobe products, or just the free Acrobat?

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

For some reason, and it must be the legality of the thing, the attorneys and accountants I have worked with will not accept a scanned PDF of a signed document. They WILL accept it if it is printed, signed, and then faxed (which by comparison looks terrible). Perhaps they think anyone can Photoshop it to make it say whatever they want. Plus, the law may be different in different states and countries.

Absolutely correct: Adobe PhotoShop or Enfocus Pitstop Pro (An Adobe Acrobat Plugin). But you didn/t hear it from me

In the Netherlands we can use our "DigiD" (digital ID/ digital autograph) on all government related forms and use it to log in with the tax office and such. I haven't heard from a civil version of that.

You can create and alter PDF-files with Adobe Acrobat (the $$$ version). Also if you happen to have a Mac then you can alter PDF-files without even bothering to buy Acrobat. My wife works with Mac, so if you want to know how, I'll ask her. Don't know however if you can import graphic files that way, but one can always try...

When I refinanced my mortgage a couple years back we did everything via PDF, short of the actual signing. But I recall signing many other documents during the process that I just scanned, converted to PDF and emailed back to the broker. You are correct though, when you say that not everyone will accept that.

Actually, if the author of the PDF file didn't protect the document, it can be edited but it requires Acrobat professional, a rather expensive program to accomplish that. I've pasted scanned copies of my signture into PDF forms that the author left unprotected.

If you don't have Acrobate Professional, the next easiest way to put a signature onto the document is to use a program that converts PDF files to word documents. Scan a copy of your signature, paste it into the word document and then use a word to PDF converter to convert the document back to PDF.

On our last house purchase, we signed all of the offer stuff with, get this, a mouse! It looked like I made my signature on an etch-a-sketch. Can't say it's much better than the pen and paper version, but even so, it felt like it wasn't the real deal.

Right. Even using a tablet, my 'electronic' signature looks pretty bad.
