Don't know for certain about recent HP laptops, but a few years back, their desktops came loaded with bloatware.

Also, if you feel a bit more bold, you can use the Start button to type "Run" and then "msconfig". There you will see a tab for "Startup" where you can uncheck programs that run when your laptop boots. I recommend you uncheck one at a time and reboot to test the effect, unless you know what you are looking at. The nice thing here is that you are not uninstalling anything; just keeping it from running, and you can always go back and check it if you need it.

Another approach is to use a free (shareware) program you can download, called PC Decrapifier. Go here: http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/home and click on What It Removes to see what it can do. The list of common programs it removes is so long, it takes three screens to show it all.
