IIRC there is a bit of help file accessed from inside the plugin itself.

PG Vinyl works extremely well, BTW, there are default settings included, which don't require the user to have to get in there and diddle very much if at all, just select one by name and audition.

What exactly is it that you want to do?

Maybe we can go from that standpoint please.

The PG Vinyl tool is for cleaning up tracks that where imported from LP's. The tool is not for adding crackle and noise.

I have tried a number of “vinyl cleaning” tools and PG Vinyl is one the best. I have used it a lot on both records and tapes; both reel to reel and cassette. I would record your song with all of the cracks and pops, then experiment with the tool until you find what works best for you.

Good luck.

sax80 I hope you are getting some idea of the pgvinyl. It is one of those programs that is "intuitive" meaning once you know what you are doing, you know how to use the functions. It is relatively easy to get a handle on it but one does have to spend some time experimenting. I have used it similiar to Mario, that is reproducing lps, reel to reel, cassette, cds onto a newer cd/dvd/harddrive medium with less noise. I even took an old reeltoreel recording (1950's) of a local R&R band (the member are all a little long in the tooth now) and lengthened their 1:15 recording into a 2:40 recording. They didn't even realize I had done it so I was quite pleased with my work. If you have applications that require reproducing noisy median, give it a try, it works. DennisD

Explain please. Plus we need more information about your system to help you any further.

I know for a fact that the vinyl help works on 32 bit XP Pro and home systems.

FYI:

I clean my LPs using Discwasher D4+ before transfer to pc.

There are other record cleaners out there.

The idea is to start with as clean a record as possible.

Often no processing is needed after cleaning the record.

Hi sax80,

Perhaps the help file is an older version that windows Vista, 7, etc doesn't open.

There is a fix for this with a download from Microsoft.

Find it here: Viewing Old Help Files

Hope this helps.

Michee

Couple ways. Hook up your turntable to your stereo as normal and using the line outs record into your soundcard of the computer.Buy a USB turntable.Buy the appropriate device for hooking a turntable to a computer sound card.

I've got a $1000 buck turntable. I spent 2 hours getting one album into the thing. Found the cd on line for 8.99.

I used Audacity, and my turntable.

I determined that the stress, the dicking about, the setup, the moving things, getting the arm down right, trying to listen to see if the track was good, and then post processing was a royal pain.

When I put in the CD I get the album cover on-line, the thing goes from CD to my linux box in about 4 minutes, and then out to my mp3 player or tablet.

Now I have not taken my wife's Caruso boxed set LP and tried to find it on line, and some of my favorite LP's I may not find. Being somewhat odd, I had 11 of the same classical piece and was prepared discuss the merits of this vrs. that interpretation by which guy.

So I probably don't need to take the 12 lps of the Goldburg Variations and put them into my computer. I like the Glen Gould the best, the same for the 6 late Hayden piano works. I admit a bias there.

And I've outgrown some of the stuff. The wife has a Village People album. I pass, would have, and still do. When I asked her she said, "garage sale stuff". Thanks!

Sax80, this is what I do, I have the following devices connected to my 24 channel mixer:
a Sony direct drive turntable connected to an RIAA box, connected to a separate channel on my mixer
a reel to reel connected to a separate channel on my mixer
a cassette deck connected to an RIAA box, connected to a separate channel on my mixer
a dvd player connected to a separate channel on my mixer.
All of the forgoing, when in playback mode go through a piece of software called “Spin it Again” and is recorded into my DAW station. I really like this software because it anticipates a track based on the silence default when it “hears” the music. In this way you can get cd/dvd tracks when you record other media such as lps, cassettes, etc. The only music difficult to get the correct tracks established is when processing classical music. Because the dynamics are so frequent and extreme, you can get 20 plus tracks set when there are only 4 tracks (as an example) to the recorded piece. However you can edit them out. Once it is in my DAW I use the decrackle options with the software, or I take it into power tracks and use the pg vinyl tool. I clean it up then reproduce onto a cd/dvd. Note that record cleaning and de-magnetising is another whole exercise worthy of separate discussion. DennisD
