If you look at my other post you'll see this is a moot point now.

Maybe, maybe not

If you come back with a 70's rock set or two in the future it may change some attitudes ... or *if* they do actually call back, you'll be ready. I can see being down about it, I can't see giving up and not learning from it. That is, if you still want to do it. I know other concerns have taken priority at the moment.

You're right of course. I plan, as time dictates, to start doing some of the songs suggested.

Some will be tough in BiaB/RB. Sweet Home Alabama seems like it would be a great crossover tune for you, as mentioned by jeffgee.
The signature licks would make it a toughey though, which is why I didn't post my ideas for 70's rock songs .. too hard to replicate some important parts in a lot of them if you're not a guitar player.

There were a lot of 'signature riffs' going on back then in the songs. Walk this way, etc etc
There are quite a few 70's songs that have been redone and would be recognizable by both young and old (with differing renditions) but without the guitar lines would be a 'less than noteworthy' version most likely.

Something to watch out for when sifting through the list of suggested songs.

First rule of thumb. A Yankee does not do Southern Rock of any form in the Deep South where they still fly the Confederate flag. I'd be lynched.
Yes I have to stay away from any song were the licks are the dominant part.
The thing is here when they say "70's Rock they mean Southern Rock,ie Skynard,Allman's,Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker, 38 Special, Little Feat etc.
Can't do that stuff no matter what.Too signature in the guitar parts.
I will move from here at some point in the future to a place were the "Animal Circuit" is alive and well. Just hope I'm not too old by then. 2.5 years at the most.

"We thank you very much for your requests, ladies and gentlemen, unfortunately we already have our show planned..."

Diz used to use that line.

But I don't think Diz had to play too many biker bars or the likes.

Diz *always* got a laugh with that line, I tried it once and almost got killed...

I guess its true: Some people just can't tell a joke.

I can't tell them either and when I talk the Rs are still missing. Dead give away.
The first place I played around here. Check out the drive through. You thought I was kidding. Freddy's Lounge
