Had hoped for a bit more feedback on my last post - 1 reply... would've expected some PG guys to step in...
Needless to say I'm still dealing with the 2 issues..

Here's the 'new' problem - I save a song - and UNcheck the piano patch so it doesn't get saved... sounds fine in BIAB - so I render it, and play the WAV file, and the piano is in there!! So either I'm doing something wrong, or this is a bug....

BIAB 2011/314

You need to mute the piano.
No one answered your other question as there was nothing more to add.It was answered quite properly.

You have to mute the part. I don't understand either but that's how it is.

With regard to muting the piano, what is the point then of unchecking the box in the 'assign instruments...' pop up? Isn't that supposed to remove the patch from the song ?

And regarding my initial post - the first question/problem was not addressed at all by the one reply, and the 'solution' to the 2nd was simply not correct.... so, no, it was not answered 'quite properly'...

I think that unlocks any assigned patches or BiaB intsruments for a style so you can manually assign the track to a different instrument if you want. (I could be wrong)

If it happens after muting the track, then I think something is wrong.

If you want a songfile to Save with a particular generated part excluded, use the "Save with Patches and Harmony" window, invoked from the File menu.

There you will find a list of all the tracks, simply put a check in front of each one that you want to be played in the file and do not check the one(s) that you wish to exclude, such as the Piano in this case.

The OP is talking about a Render. The Save... dialog seems to have nothing to do with whether the part is Rendered. I have to mute the part when Rendering.

Mac - that is exactly what I did - UNchecked the piano patch - saved it, played it in BIAB - sounded fine (no piano) - then rendered it - played the WAV file, and the piano was there... ??

What happens if you set the piano volume to 0 and then render?

Sure THAT works, but that should not be necessary if the UNcheck worked properly....
BTW, this was NOT a problem with my last BIAB '08.... so SOMETHING was changed...

Sounds like a bug to me then. Good call you. Something for update release 315.
Good luck.

Trying to get ready for a gig tonight, and scrambling to mute the piano on about 50 songs.. then render all of 'em, export them to MP3s in Audacity - and then burn a new CD..
How about some PG guys chiming in here? This has been a REAL pain in the butt for me, and I'd like to know what happened and why.....this was something that worked fine before 2011!

Mute the Track. They won't get it fixed by tonight.

If you want PGMusic to know about it, email support. Link at top of page

If I'm not mistaken, this was going on before 2011 release. Luckily, most of my Renders use only Bass and Drums. I mute the others and crank out a mass Render. For the other songs that use more instruments, it is one at a time muting/unmuting where needed.

Try Rightclicking on the Piano part and selecting MUTE.

The Piano trackname should turn RED, indicating it is muted.

Then Render your files.

The MUTE of the track should stay put for the entire session but will revert back to being played the next time you open BB, so if you want to continue Rendering that way you simply repeat the above on any new sessions.

BTW it looks as if the new UPDATE, released today, may have fixed the problem, always worth keeping track of the program updates, download and install them.
