Jim,

Thanks so much for listening! I always use Band in a Box to do all my arranging. I arrange all my compositions in a linear fashion (I don't use repeats, etc). Then I use the bar settings to place instruments in and out of the song where desired, and then rough out a mix (volume, pan, reverb) to get a general idea of the sound of the arrangement. When satisfied, I then on all instruments, remove all reverb, pan everything to center, and turn up to full volume on each instrument. Then I render each individual instrument to a wav file. I then use Logic Express 9 to actually mix, record vocals, etc.

I have written in several posts that I regenerate the BB (RT/RD) parts a LOT. It is not unusual for me to regenerate (particularly a solo part) 20, 30 even 50 times, to get the part that I want. (Occasionally it will nail it the first time.) To me, this is one of the awesome things about BB. If you don't like what you hear, but it is "within the ball park" close to what you want, just regenerate a part until you get what you want. It takes some patience, but it is worth it.

Anyway, thanks again for your time and comments! Have a blessed day!

Steve
