Attempting to get an E7-5 chord for 'One Note Samba'...
I've tried E7b5 and Eb5 - and neither give me the Bb note I need..
Most times it plays a B note(?), or ignores the 5th entirely...
Using ZZBOSSA style (most other styles do this too)
Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi pooch,

E7b5 is definitely the chord you want. I've just played around with the ZZBOSSA style. At first it didn't work properly for me either. What I did was to right-click on the chord chart, select "Song Settings" from the pop-up menu, and then (about 1/3 of the way down the list) disable "Allow embellishment of chords". This fixed it for me.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Sorry - but I have that embellishment setting unchecked for all my songs...
Thanks anyway....

Then likely something is corrupted in a key file.
Could just be resources got used up in a session, so first thing to try is a reboot of the computer.

If it still happens:

Under the Options menu, try Return to Factory Settings.

Hi Pooch,

Another thought just occurred to me ...

Are there any frozen tracks (an asterisk beside the name)? If a track is frozen after being generated, it doesn't matter what is changed, the track will always retain the original information that was frozen with it. If this is the case, unfreeze the track and regenerate.

Regards,
Noel

Pooch,
I experience the same behaviour for the guitar part.
Using ZZBOSSA.sty, and using only E7b5 chord in a test song of 4 bars, and using only the first guitar chord pattern in the A 4beat row, and setting Embellish pattern=none, and disabling 'Allow embellish of chords' in song settings, we do get sometimes a B 5th instead of Bb 5th. Can anybody reproduce this test ?
Return to Factory Settings don't change anything.
NB : the piano part is always correct, we always get a Bb 5th at each time you hit 'Play'.

There are no 'frozen' tracks...
And it is only the guitar part.. just one of many bugs I've encountered with the midi guitar over the years...
And yes, I have attempted to use the RT guitar, but I simply do not like the sound or style of them... too muddy sounding and, to my taste, WAY overplaying...

The E7b5 is integral to 'One Note Samba' - so any help would be appreciated ....

pooch,

What version of BIAB do you have? Did you try "Opt | Return to factory settings" as suggested by Mac?

I simply play the flatted 5th and let the music flow.

If you played it back for 99 percent of the population it is a non issue.

Most of us keyboard types just do it naturally, b5b9 getting a transient off beat appearance, much like my new hair, which grew back without the grey so ...

I'd like to know a context where this is an issue. As in what piece and where does it occur?

And just so we know, is this the tonic or? As in the 1 chord the 4 chord or...

John-Luke,
I get the same thing as you and Pooch. I used chords E7b5, A and B, two measures each for 24 total measures. The first 12 measures were ZZBOZZA.sty using the a-substyle while the other 12 measures used the b-subsytle. In both cases sometimes the guitar played a B note and sometimes it played a Bb. This happened regardless either the “Embellish pattern” or the “allow embellish of chords” were on or off.

It looks like you have found a bug.

MarioD,
I'm glad to know that somebody comes to the same conlusion. Probably the issue could be relative to macro notes, because the guitar patterns of ZZBOSSA.sty use macro notes. I will address this thread to PGsupport people, in order they can investigate.

In this case, you will get a B note as E7#11 is basically a E7. In the other hand, we get too much notes.
X5b is a triad chord. We have to wait that BIAB manages this chord some day...

The chord on One note samba is E7b5, a four note chord. When I play the song on the guitar I use this form: E/D/G#/A#, Interesting chord for a beautiful song from the genius Antonio Carlos Jobim

Most of the time (~80%) it should play the correct chord (E7b5). Sometimes it will play an E7 - this is part of the randomness with treatment of dominant chords (different kinds of dominant chords will get played in some patterns). I'll look into it, to see if turning off embellishments can also turn this part of it off too.

Have Fun!
