When loading a song to generate the realtracks but don't play. This would sure help me to use realtracks in live situations. Right now I have "Play when chosen" selected, then BB generates the tracks and starts playing, to which I have to immediately stop it to "restart" the song when I really want it.
Note "freeze" doesn't do the job as I don't always know how many choruses I need to loop, or when I need to jump around to follow a singer.
Just Hoping,

I do not understand your post. The first sentance makes no sense.
On the other hand once band in a box makes a song you can use the conductor feature to add a verse. I know in hard core jazzing sometimes you can go with the flow and get carried away and add more verses with solos, but in my experience the need to change the song on the fly with a singer is not a good thing.

There is an option pause playback till MIDI. ([menu] Edit- Prefs- "Pause Play until MIDI or key received" When that is enabled, the songs get generated, but playback doesn't start until a QWERTY keystroke, or a MIDI event on a connected MIDI keyboard is received.

For me ever since the 09 upgrade and using Realtracks, Conductor has been flaky. I use it live to add choruses or make next chorus the last chorus. Some songs are OK, but for some BIAB goes to last chorus (though directed otherwise) and ends but the display marches on.
For frozen tracks there's always about a 1 second glitch for Conductor directed repeats.

Conductor is not the same thing as the Pause Playback till MIDI Received option, which is a lot older as far as when the feature was implemented. Try it for live gigs, it should work okay.
The only erratic Conductor action I've experienced ever was when I was trying to use softsynths for the MIDI, even if the song had no MIDI parts in it. Hardware MIDI Synth seems to have solved that problem entirely. Try using ASIO sound drivers with softsynth and conductor, with proper ASIO buffer settings I was able to get it to work as advertised. Couldn't set it to the fastes ASIO possible on my machine, but was able to get it to work and use it.

Conductor seems to be fine with songs that use midi. Works great for songs with the standard Roland VSC DXi, and until this upgrade worked just fine for songs using RealTracks. I just noticed a couple of RealTracks songs that went weired last Saturday night at our gig. This may be just something strange in those files. Long hours and travel for day-job this week haven't yet allowed me time to see if I could isolate the conditions that seem to bring it on.
However, the problem that happens every time is about a second pause-glitch when I use Conductor on frozen files. The way I use it is by having QWERTY enabled which maps the go-to first/middle/last chorus commands to number keys 3/4/5 respectively. I don't have the Conductor window open.
Mac, does Conductor work for you for frozen files?
John

Just a follow up. I've been away. The feature "Pause playback until midi" doesn't work out for me.
While it does generate the real tracks when the song loads, and waits for midi or space bar - that works fine. What doesn't work if you turn this on: if you try to use any of the midi conductor mini-notes like to skip ahead or back a bar - it immediately stops playing and pops up the yellow dialog about waiting for midi input. Sometimes I need to jump ahead or back a few bars, so I have some of the midi controller notes set to let me do this.
I also can't start songs with Ctrl-numpad-2 - it just ignores this.
Oh well - I'm back to setting it generate on loading of the song, and immediately stopping it, only to hit replay when it's time to really start - and "wishing there was a feature" to do this.
