Hi, Im posting my problem again with a different heading! I have BIAB 2011.....only had it a week...and Sonar 2.2 (had it YEARS!). I have a file..... C_Hag.....with some Midi instruments & some Real Tracks. I'm slowing down the last four bars from 155 to 90. It seems to work well in BIAB. When I try to open it in Sonar,in ANY of the usual ways.....Audio tracks are OK.........Midi tracks don't slow down.....in tempo right to the end.
I've tried every way I can think of....none works! Has anyone experienced anything like this.......or can help with a suggestion. It would seem to be a DAW problem....but why? I've used similar endings like this over the years....before I had Real Tracks & RealDrums. It must be something I've done....but??!! Thanks, Joe G.

How did you get the file from BiaB to Sonar? Drag and drop?

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hi Rharv, I dragged & dropped....both with & without freezing. And I also exported from BIAB into a new folder I set up specially for that. No luck. I've just had a PM from our friend John (Skyline)....who suggests I may need to do the the ritards in Sonar also.....that I DEFINITELY will need help with!
Do other experts agree? Joe G.

Joe,

Keep in mind that the "expert" title has only one meaning, and that is the number of posts you've made.

Joe,
Why oh why do you even bother with that quirky outdated piece of software. You have the perfect thing for what you do in Real Band.I have a friend that continues to fight with Sonar as opposed to digging into RB.Sonar is an excellent program, the new versions like 8.5 anyway, but they are very difficult and complex for the average user.I'm probably as experienced as anyone here and I've totally abandoned Sonar even though I'm completely comfortable using it. RB is just easier to use and does everything the average person wants.

John,What do you mean....."outdated"?.....it's only 10 years old!! Seriously, one of the reasons I've stuck with Sonar, is, that my friend who helps with my recording projects uses Sonar....(although he has regularly updated!). But I do take your point about Real Band.........I've had a good look....and tried out a few things in it. I know a lot of you guys, who know their stuff, have changed over......I'll really have to experiment properly....(if I remember the Manual is only 298 pages!) There goes more instrument practise time.
AND......it also means I'll be back here many more times. Regards, Joe G.

Your midi has to read the tempo changes so you need to type in changes in the events list. I still use Sonor 1.1 and it still edits midi just fine ,only mine came with a 1" thick book. Some times it hard to get a straight answer here .

I’m not sure about Sonar 2.2 but in Sonar 5.2 there are two ways to import midi files. If you have Sonar open and import a midi file into a Sonar blank midi track, the tempo track changes will not be imported. The midi file will follow Sonar’s midi tempo track. However if you click on a midi filename and have Sonar open it, that is have your midi files associated with Sonar, the tempo track will be imported. You could import your midi files first using this method then load your wav files and all should be OK.

Like I said I don’t remember if this works on Sonar 2.2 but it may be worth a try.

Thanks Mario, Another thing I can try! The changes I made are fine, but it would be good to have another less complex way. Joe G.

Drag and Drop as one track at a time will not bring along the MIDI Tempo Map data.

That is because the data you want is not embedded into each track, but is embedded when saved as a Standard MIDI File.

Saving as a .MID file in entirety should bring that data along with it, if the host program you are using is able to recognize the Tempo Change Data.

When using a mix of Realtracks plus MIDI tracks, you likely will have to save the MIDI tracks all together as a .MID file and then open that first in your sequencer. Give it a quick playback to make sure the Tempo Data got there and is working, then use Drag and Drop or Export method to bring the Realtracks into the sequence.

Mac, Another thought on that method. The BIAB set-up at the moment, also creates the .WAV files along with the Midi.Should I disable that? Joe G.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library.
