Hi all,

I’ve recently bought BiaB and am having a great time using it. I’ve worked through most of the initially newbie bafflement now, but one thing is still puzzling me - the big difference between the number of styles in the Style folder and those that the Style Picker window can find. Anybody know why that is, please?

To explain a bit further:

Initially (with Megapak) there were approximately 1800 style files listed under “All” in the Style Picker. Yet the folder on the hard drive showed 2,389 - over 500 more. I have since upgraded to the Ultrapak and the difference is now over 1,000.

For instance, In the style folder on the hard drive there are 8 files called _JAZMED2.STY through to _JAZMED9.STY and one called _JAZMEDL.STY All are presumably jazz medleys, but there’s nothing to show how they might vary, or why there are so many versions. (Similar cluster exist for Bossa, Bluegrass etc.) However, the ones ending 2-9 don’t show up anywhere in the Style Picker. Not under “All” nor under any Jazz sub-headings. I eventually discovered that I can load the ‘missing’ files by using the drop down Style menu and selecting “Open a User Style from disk” option and accessing the folder directly. They do work OK, but I then can’t find the sort of useful information that the Style Picker lists about each style.

Could anybody please explain why there are so many files that the style picker won't display, and whether it is possible to find more information about them other than by ploughing through them individually and auditioning each one to try and pick the differences?

Thanks,

Chris
