I recently have run into trouble with what seems a simple thing. In attempting to create a duplicate of a song file in BIAB of 93.4 KB by clicking file>save song as I created a new name and saved it in my BIAB song file. I continually get a new file named as requested but of 19.4 KB which appears completebut does not produce any audio.I have done this before successfully.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?

If you have audio in the song, as in a recorded audio track of your vocal track for example, then there would be a .WAV file with the same name as the track.
MySong.SGU
MySong.WAV
If somehow the WAV file didn't get written, you could find it, and rename it like that.

Uh i would not be such a smart ass if I were you, Peter is not a sales guy, he is the founder and owner of PG music. The PG stands for yup you guessed it Peter Gannon. Yeah i think he know a bit about this program. When people offer some help, you might try being at the very least gracious!
He actually gave you a solid work around, to add the wave file back into the new file and fix the problem, but you were to busy being a chump to notice it or even understand it.
Oh, and if for some reason they misunderstood your question, well don't be so quick to call them out, after all it only makes you look small.

Ok.Point taken.I love the program but the response was not appropriate to my question.
This stuff is frustrating and confusing...often things don't work as explained and the response made no sense whatsoever. So Peter is some sort of god with no sense of humor because he created the program?
If you read the question again you will see that it's impossible to misunderstand if you actually read it. And...yes...musicians think with EARS that HEAR AUDIO! So now we've redefined the word "audio"?
Relax! Life is short. Wow...didn't know this site was that paranoid!

I would not be so quick to dismiss Peter's line of thinking here. If you do not know what is happening, how can you be sure he has misunderstood? Well,Matt...pardonez moi! Apparently I have stepped on the foot of royalty.
I meant no offense.The response to my inquiry was the first to be totally incomprehensible to me and reflected a lack of thought given to my text to which I humanly responded.
I admittedly "do not know what is happening". Isn't that why we ask questions? So...guilty as accused. Is not the burden of explanation on the teacher?
I am age 65 and have been playing music since before most here were born.Perhaps that is why I have reached the point of fatigue with condescending tech heads who lack the insight to be able or even willing to try to understand what a customer might be feeling and experiencing.
I suggest that Peter should not lower himself to my level of subhuman stupidity and instead delegate such communications to others more mentally suited to understanding what an imbecile musician like myself might be experiencing.(IE: his support staff who I have found by experience to be far more adept in this regard)
But then...are we not His customers? Do I,as such,not have the privilege to challenge the Creator of the product I have purchased? When did the world devolve to that sorry state?
If you review my comments you will find nothing but gratitude courteously and sincerely expressed on multiple occasions not only to the kind and thoughtful people, yourself included, who have helped me figure out this excellent program,(the manual of which presents any normal human with a virtual labyrinth of information standing between using same creatively and understanding how to do so) but also to the fine people I have spoken with by phone and to the creator(s) of the program itself.
I understand, as I have posted here,that the task of compiling a "how to do [whatever]" manual is a gargantuan task and I say again that I respect that.
To Peter I can only say the following:
You have my personal email. If I have offended you I apologize and invite you to contact me personally.(Given my experience in this world I will be more than surprised if you actually do)I prefer to take this issue up with you without the kibitzing of uninvolved and unconnected individuals who somehow view you as above any form of challenge. Hi Brian, I have just had a read through this thread. I hope you don't mind my saying so but it gave me a good smile. You see, I'm usually the one that ends up putting his foot in his mouth (usually w-a-a-a-y past the ankle). It's great to know that I have a friend  I'm pretty sure Peter Gannon will see the humor in it too given that, amongst other things, he's a Jazz musician. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm told that Jazz musicians have great senses of humor. I just want to say that, for the benefit of others who have not read you're other thread, you are a really decent guy and you have been genuinely appreciative of all the help everyone in that other thread has offered. First off, If i was rude I apologize, but secondly and most importantly You question was answered, maybe not in a way that made sense to you. I reacted the way i did for a simple reason, what you said was not only uncalled for, but down right arrogant and rude. Peter Gannon is not likely to respond to that as I have seen, he tries hard to stay above that fray here. But i for one appreciate when he comes in and offers his thoughts on the program, and i would hate to see that stifled, as it is rare in the software world.
I too appreciate the frustration of setting up software for us who are more musician than tech, and you will find that that is what is here for the most part. Also you will find that most here are close to your age as well.
Lastly, from your response you feel justified in being rude, and that makes me sad. One small piece of advice, if in the future someone offers suggestions, and you feel that they missed the point, why not be gracious and kind rather than rude. Printed media is not always easy to pick up on what one is asking. Give folks a break. I do want to apologize for being harsh myself, and i will take my own advice. I should not have responded as strongly as I did.

Thanks for the courtesy of your comment. You weren't rude...just human.
Your statements are good advice and I stand corrected. No, I don't feel justified in being rudely sarcastic and apologize....again...for allowing my frustration to get the best of me. The unpredictable behavior that is typical of the world of computers in combination with the difficulty of trying to understand why something isn't working as it should when following a procedure correctly can sometimes push me into strange places. I am geared to try to get through this stuff fast and need to find the patience to be more gracious with technically advanced minds. It seems that there are very often missing pieces of information that are hidden somewhere...sometimes it feels like looking for your car keys with a forest fire leaping over the back yard fence.There is allot of background knowledge required and the only way to get it is by doing....reading and studying just isn't enough.
For example now I know that "audio" means externally originating sound and the whole dang thing was because of my lack of familiarity with how "audio" and "sound" differ.If I had said "sound" instead of "audio" it would have been clear to Peter what was happening.
So, Peter...thanks for trying to help and please accept my apology for being sarcastically rude.

For example, maybe you have frozen tracks in there, and they got erased before you saved the file, so they are saved as blank tracks. If that is the case, try un-freeing the tracks, and pressing PLAY. But the best advice would be to either: - try again, perhaps with a different song, and see if it is only this particular song. Noone else has reported a problem with saving songs no longer sounding, so maybe its just a one-time thing. - send the song to support@pgmusic.com, referencing this thread, and we can look into it.

Thank you, Peter.
Actually that's what I finally did while talking with Will in your support. The first time I clicked the snowflake, however, the program locked up so I had to use "end task". Fortunately when I reopened everything was still there and then the unfreeze was successful. I did not press play before saving under a different name but the save worked so I concluded that it is not necessary to regenerate before saving. That makes sense because otherwise we would not be able to re-save a preferred performance.
I am now trying to figure out why my mp3 conversions (renderings?)show up in my BIAB folder but do not play back. Is there more information than that on page 162 of the user's guide? I must be doing something wrong but I am not yet able to figure out what. I'll look for a thread on this.
Thanks again! I continue to be amazed at the musical integrity of this program and also at how much I have to learn.

Right now I am wrestling a new computer build, and as i type windows is loading. I went from an old single core machine 10 years old to a newer dual core unit i bought as a barebones kit. Send good vibes!

Dear all,
If anyone is interested, I think this thread is a perfect example of the dangers of misunderstanding common words used in different contexts. I'm writing this response because other people around the world will read this thread and wonder why there is so much animosity present.
I don't want people to get the wrong idea because these PG Music forums are normally very friendly and helpful places.
To explain ...
I have been helping Brian understand some aspects of BIAB in another thread and I have a lot of time for him. He's been very generous and sincere with thanks for my and others help. He's a decent guy.
For what it's worth, here's my take on the situation given my experience in that other thread, "Formatting the song structure".
If one looks at Brian's initial post above in light of the other thread, then one can see that he has used the word "audio" as a synonym for "sound".
Peter Gannon, on the other hand, gave the word "audio" it's fully fledged BIAB-associated meaning of "something to do with WAV files recorded in BIAB" and has replied to Brian's post accordingly.
From this perspective, it is perfectly understandable that Brian had no idea what Peter was talking about and thus asked Peter "Have you considered actually reading before commenting?" Personally, I can understand Brian's frustration when he gets a response that seems pointless given where Brian was coming from with his problem. If it were me, I'd think "Is someone making fun of me?"
It is clear that Brian had no idea that "audio" had a special meaning when used in the same sentence as BIAB. Why should he? He's had 35 posts and it's clear from his requests for help that he's coming to terms with the complexity of the program. I sometimes find it easy to forget just how this program challenged me when I first started and the uncomfortable feeling of angst that the initial frustration caused. When I read Brian's above post that offended people, what I heard was the sound of BIAB-induced frustration. I've been there!
It's amazing that a simple little word like "audio" can create so much ill will.
Lastly, I mention that because Brian is new to this product and to PG Music, he has not yet had a chance to fully appreciate just how impressive PG Music is as a store. He has yet to learn just how considerate and conscientious everyone at this company is. I'm sure that as time passes, Brian will come to see why we are all so very eager to jump to Peter's defense when comments are made that unfairly criticize PG Music and its products.

One big happy yet delightfully disfunctional family!!
So far only 2 gigs of ram, but I am still on Win XP. I hope to upgrade to 4 gigs and Win 7 someday soon!

Your being in Australia takes away a lot of USA specific acronyms I could have had fun with.... 
You don't know know how much I want to visit Australia before I die. Unfortunately there's now way I can afford a plane ticket, and I don't swim well.... Instead I will continue to talk myself out of it. "It's a 25 hour flight." "I'd probably get mauled by an angry Koala bear." "I'd probably end up 6 feet down under..." just to delude myself into thinking I am not missing anything.... SO many friends have visited and brought back these amazing photos....

Hi Eddie, Hahahahaha! I coped with MIDI and RAM but struggled with LOL, ROFL and it's bigger brother ROFLMAO. Then, one day here on the forums, someone signed their posts HTH; I don't mind telling you that THAT was a real challenge! Eventually I got it, though. Perseverance is the key. I've got to say that I felt like an idiot the day the penny dropped that PG = Peter Gannon. I had no idea. Oh well. That's life. You know, maybe one day you can still get to Australia.
