I'm looking for the EASIEST way to do this.

I have a 60 min live show now on my hard drive, which has been transferred from tape - 15 songs approx plus applause and patter.
I'd like to burn it to CD or DVD with "stops" after each song and patter.
I know you can burn cuts with no space between them. Is there an easy way to insert the break spots without subdividing the show into X number of single wave files?

Maybe a software of which I'm not aware.

Thanks for your input.

Ian

Ian,

I'm truly surprised at your signature, considering your background,...eh!

Are you sure you aren't from Texas?

I use Diamond Cut software, but it requires cutting your file into multiple WAVs (but it does preserve the original). You just put markers where you want each track to be, then run the cut command. Then I just use Nero to burn the CD with the "no gaps" between tracks option selected. That allows for track changes when you play it, but doesn't leave a gap in the applause of the live performance. After I burn the CD, I just delete the individual WAV files and keep the original (for posterity). It's a simple matter to cut it up again, if I need to.

DC8, the latest version, is $159, but you can get an earlier version which does the same thing, DC Millennium, for $59. You can also get a 15-day free trial version to try, if you wish.

Others may know, but I don't know of a free software that does this. Perhaps an Audacity user could chime in.

John - thanks for the input.

That sounds about as easy as it could be - I like FREE - so maybe the 15 day trial would be ideal for all that I have to do.

I do run Audacity so maybe there is a plugin I haven't discovered yet.

Suggestion Box is still open folks - don't be shy.

Ian, I had to do this once for a pirate radio station I used to run. I made a 3 second mp3 file called pause.mp3 and then when I made the program I put that file where I wanted a pause. That's one option. I THINK Nero will put in 2 seconds.

Nero will burn with the 2 second gap, or you can burn one coninuous file with 'markers' to mark the beginning of the song. Done that more than once in Nero.

I'm sure there is a tutorial on Audiominds ..

Ahh, here it is -
http://audiominds.com/nero.html

If you guys are gonna do this stuff, you must be audiominds ..

Thankfully is right. It hit 97 degrees here today. And humidity neared 60%. Awful day, and no relief for 2 days. Thank God and Trane for central air....

Actually Audacity, Goldwave or Adobe Audition allows you to add silence. And it's a simple process. You just put the cursor where you want silence, and there is a menu option in both Goldwave and Audition (the two I have) to insert silence.

My apologies, the guys who take care of the site have been simply plagued with 'bots, literally hundreds at a shot, likely your attempt fell through those cracks somehow.

The site maintainers simply were overtaxed with having to pour through each one and deciding what was a real person and what was a 'bot - and then there have been the spams from real people that only complicate the issue even more.

We haven't really figured out a good solid and foolproof way around all that crap as of yet.
