Hi All

Has anyone had this problem:

In the Mixer window the Main Fader (Combo) "snaps back" to the center position regardles of where you try to drag it.
This also causes the other fader to reallign themselves as well!!

What can I do to remidy this problem???

Harpo

The combo is meant to be that way but the others stay where they were .Or should.

This is from James Chandler in response to this question in another thread:

"The combo slider is designed to be "spring loaded" and return to the midpoint after every drag. It is designed to allow you to scale all the track sliders, and provide enough adjustment range so you can scale all the sliders down to zero or scale them all up to max using a single drag gesture. After you are finished with a drag gesture and release the mouse button, the combo slider automatically returns to the midpoint-- So that the next time you use the Combo slider, you always have adequate space to the left and right of center to have full adjustment range every time you use the combo slider."

It does look strange but it works as he described it.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I could have sworn that when I used the "Main Fader" yesterday it behaved quite differently.

I remember it moving to either side of the "mid-point" at the same increments as the other tracks, but "not" doing that "snap-back" thing!

I actually find that feature very annoying.

What mixing board or mixing device do you know of that doesn't allow the main fader to move as freely as the other faders?!?!?

Oh well.....

Another thing to get used to, I guess.

It should be labelled, "The slider that makes everything proportionally move to pianissimo or forte", but there wasn't enough room. So a name was chosen and the winner had to answer a skill testing question that said 'what was your first pet?' You were supposed to keep that secret.

That person, (the one who answered the question) decided against her favorite type of ice cream, "Rock-y Road to Damnasscuss" as the slider name and chose the word combo, which was Picasso like in it's simplicity and nuance.

That is quite funny Harpo because that is exactly why I posted about that point during the beta testing. I could have sworn that the main slider moved to one side and stayed there and after a few hours it started with the "spring loaded" thing but everybody told me no, it been like that since whatever beta version it was.

Oh well, it's spring loaded now for me and it hasn't changed since the official release.

If it really is going back and forth between those two modes for you then document it and post a bug report.

I think some are making the assumption that the Combo fader is a Master fader.

While a Master fader can control overall volume, it cannot make a separate mixer input channel (in this case, a bb track) change its setting.

The Combo fader was named Combo and not Master because it moves the input channel faders in "combination" accordingly.

The springback makes more sense if you work with the Combo fader for a bit, if not for that it would be difficult to impossible to RE-do the fader changes with it.
