Once you select the patch you want, and while the song is still playing back the way you want it, hit File -> Save with Patches and Harmony.
In the window that opens, hit the "Fill with Patches" button, also check off LSB and MSB boxes to the right, at least. Examine what the others do while you are there, as well as the Options.
