Is the EXP dial turned down in the RB mixer? This has been an issue with recent release. Or are you in BiaB?

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

If the light flashes in time with any MIDI input, then the MIDI data is getting into the SD2 but no Audio is coming out. Using headphones is a good test, so you have done that and still no joy. There might be a situation where computer software or you hardware MIDI controller may have sent a CC7 of zero...

First thing to do in order to check it out is turn it off, wait a few seconds and turn it on again. The SD2 performs a full reset routine on powerup.

If still no joy, try eliminating the computer temporarily, if you have a MIDI keyboard, hook its MIDI out directly to the MIDI in of the Ketron and see if you can hear it in the headphones.

I'm assuming you already made sure that the SD2's Volume slider is turned all the way up to the right...

I don't have an SD2, but I had a similar situation last weekend in which the midi light was flashing on my Roland rack synth, but no sound. Turned out it was not in GM mode. As soon as I pressed the GM button, there was sound.

SD2 has no physical button controls on it other than on/off power switch and one Volume slider.

All other commands are done thru MIDI input by software or another MIDI device, depending on your setup.

It is possible to send MIDI data to the SD2 and "confuse" it occasionally, but since the SD2 performs a hardware reset at power on, everytime, toggling the power button puts the SD2 back in its original startup mode, which includes the GM ON by default.

The times this has happened to me... the problem was my PC volume slider was down to zero... I don't know how that happened, but it did...

Sounds like your ASIO control panel for your soundcard is not set up to play the Line Input, somewhow.

What is the sound device?

**When you said that you could not hear the SD2 via headphones, even though its blue LED was blining to indicate that it was receiving data, you did not specify *where* you were plugging those headphones. If plugged into the SD2's own headphone jack, you should have heard the MIDI there, which would tell you the device itself was working fine but the connection to and through the soundcard was interrupted (because you could not hear anything from speakers or headphones when hooked to the soundcard output...) I of course thought that you meant that you could not hear anything when headphones were plugged into the Ketron's own headphone jack...**

The only SD-2 I've seen to date where the audio would cut out turned out to be a dirty volume slider. Didn't even need to open the box up, inserted the little red tube on my trusty can of Deoxit into the slot and gave it a quick shot, moved the fader back and forth and problem solved. The owner didn't believe that was all it was to it until after a couple of weeks and the audio never cut out again. My clue was that I could hear scratchiness in the headphones when moving the fader back and forth.

See the BiaB FAQ page, hit ctrl-f and enter "patchmap" without the quotes, use the Enter key to quickly jump thru every instance of the word on the page and it will tell you how to open the Extended Banks window with the plus sign designator and how to select the proper Patchmap, provided you downloaded it from the pgmusic support page and placed it in your bb folder.

Look down, at the bottom of every one of my posts is a hotlink to the BB FAQs support pages.
