Win 7 has shown to be a very stable capable OS for audio, and there are a lot of folks using Windows DAWs these days, even in pro studios.

On Sonar i get 4ms latency with no issues and the same is true of Reaper and MTS, RB and PTPA are right there. They do not handle my ASIO driver as well, but it is still very solid.

I am actually happy to hear you say that.

But can you say whether those low latency figures are with WDM or ASIO ? and what kind of buffer sizes are we talking about here ?.

I do find it strange though that even now it seems to be the case that a lot of people end up using a third party API and driver combination - ASIO
instead of advocating the OS’s own.

In the OSX world I know of no-one advocating a move to a different driver/audio API model - or fo that matter MIDI API /driver model. Everyone goes for the OS
standard - CoreAudio and CoreMIDI.

Why is there still so much complexity in the windows world ?

But i accept your comment about RB programming being the bigger issue.

for what its worth, i’ve ended up going back to my Mac OSX system for music making. I REALLY REALLY wanted RB ( on windows bootcamp ) to
work for me - or to put it bluntly - just work.. But for me it just wasnt ready for “prime time”.

Hope it gets there. Ive posted a ton of wishlist suggestions. Maybe say in a years time - if many of those things come to pass i’ll give RealBand a second go,
since the concept behind Realband is such a good one.
