Hi All!

Just wanted to know if this was a mistake on my part with chord entry, or if this is something that is an issue with everyone using RS's.

I just laid down a very basic "12 bar Blues" progression.

It sounds great except for the ending!

I would like to be able to generate any one of the various blues endings that is so common to the blues style!
It really doesn't matter which one, I just want it to sound like a "blues ending", and not like the "band" doesn't really know what it's doing!!

Can someone help me out on this one??

Harpo

It's not what you're "Playing", It's what you're "Saying"!

If by, "RS" you mean Real Styles, that incorporate all RealInstrument RealTracks, it is likely going to be the luck of the draw as to how an ending sounds right now, I don't think there are actual sound snippets that qualify as those kind of Endings available as of yet.

Use of fadeout can mask that somewhat, but it gets old quick and shouldn't be used on every tune.

I had the same thought last week Harpo. I was playing around with some blues styles and all the RT endings suck and I was thinking the same as you, there's several standard blues endings that everybody uses that should be included with the blues RT's. I mean, the guys are in the studio already and everybody knows those endings. How long would it take for these great studio players to lay down three endings? Russ was talking about the lack of a B3 blues organ ending and others have talked about missing a good guitar riff ending along with the appropriate drum fill and crash. This is basic stuff but it's a matter of priorities and it certainly takes a lot of time to put these RT's together so I guess we can't have everything we want RIGHT NOW. I'm sure they'll get to it eventually.

Just a thought. You might want to consider using Bob's (Notes) intro's and endings using jazz and blues styles. You could add these into your composition using Real Band or some other DAW. Just a thought..

Those are midi intros/endings, we're talking about Real Tracks here. In Real Band you can append a midi ending to a RT song and it can sound pretty good if you have a high quality synth so the sonic difference between the RT's and your midi synth isn't too great. But, if you only have a basic synth like the Roland VSC or the Forte DXi, the difference in sound is pretty dramatic and it probably won't sound good enough. Much better to have some RT blues endings ready to go.

I would unfold the song and write a ending before the auto ending ,not perfect but usable .

Check out the excellent video tutorials by Dan at
http://www.pgmusic.com/videos.user.htm

Dan shows how he generates lots of extra RealTrack solos in the RealBand Program (which comes with BIAB) so that he can cut them up and piece them together to create his signature lick.

This may be the only way to get the exact blues ending you are looking for until PG brings out a set of RealTrack classic intros, endings and hot licks, something I've added to the Wishlist.

Otherwise as Tommyc suggested, going into the BIAB notation windows and writing your own endings and/or moving things around to get what you want.

Definitely check out RealBand though.
And maybe add your vote for classic hot licks etc in the Wish Lists.
The more squeaky wheels the better.

Best of luck,
Carkins

Well then, you might try Real Tracks 30, 31, & 32. They have some neat endings you could probably cut an paste.
