Call me stupid, but I haven't found out how to substitute a MIDI track for a Real Track yet, all I can do is select a MIDI patch, the other way round is easy.
I'm a guitar player, any MIDI programming except drums is hard work for me, I could do with a MIDI starting point for piano or organ to further edit to taste, been doing that with 2006 all the time.

Any help appreciated,
Thanks,
Rhino

If you want to disable a RT, there is a 'Disable RealTracks' checkbox in the Assign RT dialog. You can do this for any track in the song. If the style has an underlying Midi part, that will play instead.

Or you can find another style that does not contain RT for the part in question.

Exactly that's where I'm stuck.
I can assign a MIDI patch then, but how do I choose a MIDI playing style for that instrument without losing the Real Tracks in that song ?

Please take your time, don't want to get on your nerves.
It's amazing how responsive you folks are ...

Thanks,
Rhino

Only the RealTracks give us a way to select by particular instrument.

For MIDI instruments, it is the Style file that selects this. You can load a particular MIDI style via the Stylepicker and then add RealTracks to it.

Or you can Edit MIDI styles to have only the one instrument or two that you wish to have playing at the time. Be sure to save it under a new name so you don't overwrite the original.

The Hybrid Style Wizard can be used to mix and match parts from two or more MIDI styles as well.

Allright, thanks again !
That explains it, I guess.
So I'll take note of the RTs, choose a MIDI style containing the keyboard style I want and resubstitute the RTs, correct ?
Trying to build a hybrid style is a great idea indeed. :tu:

Cheers,
Rhino
