I can hear duplicate kick drum notes, every now and then in Real Drums tracks, curious if anyone else is picking it up, its like the two kickdrums are overlaying each other, you get a slight double note hit...

cheers

I had a similar problem with Real Bass and midi bass playing at the same time. When I changed some of my older tunes to Real Bass and Real Drums, I couldn't turn off the midi bass (which I don't use anymore), until I finally turned the midi bass volume to 0. Later, Ray

If a RealBass track was created on any track other then the Bass track, then it is indeed possible to have RealBass playing back at the same time as the MIDI bass.

But I don't think that's possible with RealDrums, as they are only allowed on the Drums track, an either/or situation as far as MIDI or Real is concerned.

It would be helpful if Wiz could identify *which* realdrums tracks are involved, at least others of us could try invoking that one and seeing or hearing what happens on our machines in an effort to isolate whether this might be a bug or might be something in the tweaking of certain machines -- or what?

Hi everyone...

Here is some more detail.

The style for this song (i have heard it in the other songs I have done btw, which use differing styles)

is POPH120.

The real drums style is Nashville Even 8^7 ( i am fairly certain, that this drum style is used in the other songs where i have heard the problem...)

Song structure is
1a

5a

21b

and so on.

You can download a 2 bar snippet of the drums, you will hear the issue, sounds like a bit audio edit in a ways...I have gotten around this so far, by audio editing in sonar, either copying a good section, or splitting the audio and doing a real quick fade edit...

I have the song in real band, and this particular fault appears at the beginning of bar 10.

If I close and reopen the project the error is still at bar 10.

I regenerate the song, and the error isn not at bar 10 its now at bat 16 (and possibly other parts of the tune.)

My guess, its a bad loop and it varies when it gets called out.

you can download and listen to the error here...

It may not be a double hit, i suspect clipping here.

Listening to the Nashville Even8 110 and 140 .wma files in the Drums folder using a player, I think your example was made using the 140 most likely, although the 110 raw wma seems to have a more well defined and higher amplitude on the kick.

Anyway, in BIAB we have that audio setting in the RealDrums control panel that *may* adjust the level of realdrums on your rig. Try a small amount. If you have never set that dB block, try a small negative amount first, like -3dB. Of course, you may have to tweak by revisiting a few times with different settings.

Well, a picture says I was wrong in that assumption:

The kick is definitely doubled in the second iteration of this graphic waveform view.

You've go good ears.

It may be the txt file associated with the realdrum file that needs editing, don't know.

Dang this forumboard, I reduced that jpg to 75% of original size, it shouldn't be expanding the thing outside of the IE window, grumble.

I've had that problem ever since realdrums came out over a year ago, and mentioned it on this forum. I was hoping it would be fixed with the 2009 version, but no such luck. The only response I got was that I was not using the correct tempo for the part, which was not true.

I think the problem is that sometimes the loop points don't overlap correctly, and that results in the double kick.

I pull the drum part into an audio editor now after it is rendered and fix it that way, it's the only way to do it as far as I know.

Hello Wiz,

Copy the contents of this zipped folder to your ..\Drums\NashvilleEven8^ folder (replacing the existing files), and let me know if it fixes the problem. If so, we'll include it in a patch.

Hi Andrew

thks firstly to everyone who replied.

Ok, I copied the contents as advised, and it hasnt solved the problem...

The problem is there in BIAB and RB...

Everytime I regenerate, of course the problem shifts, eg it might be at bar 16 one time, then bar 10 the next etc...but, its always there somewhere.

I also heard issue yesterday, when playing a few different styles with Crash cymbals and toms being cut off, will post all this kind of stuff as I find it if you like...

anything else you want me to try?

cheers

Hi Wiz,

If you enable the "Developer Mode" setting in the RealDrums Settings dialog (in Band-in-a-Box), you'll get a text file called DrumAudioResults.txt when RealDrums are generated (when you press play). If you hear a problem, rename and save the DrumAudioResults.txt file with the bars that the problem occurs at. For example, if you hear problems between bars 3 and 4, and between bars 10 and 11, then save the file as 3-4_10-11.txt. Then, send this file as an email attachment to support@pgmusic.com Attn Andrew. That would be great. You could start with the file that's generated when you play the POPH120 demo song...

Remember that you'll get the DrumAudioResults.txt file each time you press play, so try not to get the files confused (if you press play and nothing is wrong, then close the associated txt file etc.)
