I'll be content to comment on the QR code in Gary's avatar. Cool use of technology. If you don't know what I'm talking about, get one of the smartphone scanners and scan it. Gary, nice cat on the SONY.

Ok, I'll bite. Why would I want to buy yet another gadget and use it with my smartphone?

I'll admit I don't have the imagination to see where tech is going. I had a good friend who was a total geek back in the 80's who told me about this new company named Microsoft and I should buy some stock. I read a bit about it and couldn't see what the advantage was. My bad.

Anyway this QR code links to a webpage, but you need a scanner to read it? Where's the big deal there?

Bob

Bob,
The QR scanner is available to any smartphone that has a camera. In this particular case, it just goes to a website that I created specifically for those people who know what they're looking at. They get to see a couple of pictures of me, my cat, and find out a few facts about me.

However, QR codes, also known as 2D Barcodes, are showing in magazine advertisements, and when you scan them, your smartphone will open up a browser, and take you to a page that has more available content on the product you're looking at, i.e., videos, more detailed pictures, sounds, etc. It's an additional advertising lane, for all intents and purposes. I just thought it was unique way to have an avatar.

If you have a smart phone you may already have a free barcode scanner, if not, look in your App Store or Marketplace. My phone is Android based, I use Red Laser scanner.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!
