Is there a setting to speed up volume changes when playing back a song in RB? EG, when mixing and a song in RB and I want to change the volume of a track, if the song is playing it takes a few seconds after the slider has been adjusted for the volume change to occur.

Someone else here showed me this. When using MME sounds drivers vs ASIO there is a setting to change that will fix that. Go into your audio preferences and change the buffers from the default 2000 to 500. Your volume control when mixing during playback will be real time without that pause.

There is also the same buffer setting when using ASIO, it's just usually much smaller to begin with. MME defaults to 2 full seconds (2000 ms) to ensure stability, but many systems don't need that large of a buffer.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Great info guys, I never thought of this or knew it was there and simply thought it was too slow to really work with although I never mentioned it. Thanks for the clue!

The thing about lowering the buffer in MME, it is still a process that windows is controlling (wdm really). So it is vulnerable to sudden CPU activity. Often it's fine at lower numbers. Once in a while you get to that threshold and it starts getting interrupted. So you raise it a bit .. just like with ASIO. You can get much faster times with a new project than you can once you are running 12-15 tracks. So you adjust it a bit. It's part of the process if ya want tinker with this stuff.
MME won't get close to ASIO for response (in a fair comparison) but it can be easier to use *because* the buffer is designed to be larger, and work within the OS. Usually doesn't have to be 2 seconds worth though.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
