I have 2 vocal parts on the melody track (in multi-channel mode) on channels 1 and 2 using patches synth voice and choir aahs, respectively.

The notes for each part appear on the lead sheet correctly, but the lyrics are on both parts.

Some of the lyrics are for channel 1 and some are for channel 2, but all are showing up on both channels in the lead sheet.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi kerkenat,

While it's possible to add two melody lines (I'd put one in the Melody and one in the Soloist), as far as I am aware, BIAB only lets a user add one line of lyrics to the notes. These lyrics will then appear in both the Melody and Soloist tracks.

BIAB's notation is pretty good at producing lead sheets but for more sophisticated notation, it's limited. From what you are describing, it sounds like you may well need to use a program that dedicated to music notation. I use Encore for these sorts of things. There are some freeware/opensource music notation programs available, too.

Regards,
Noel

If what you need is a separate printed part for each vocalist, the workaround would be to do the lyrics for V1 only first, then print it out. Save the file under a different name that designates it, then open the original file again and do the same thing for the V2 part, typing in only the V2 lyrics and print. Save that one under another name that easily lets you recall what is up at a later date.

"mysong.MGU"

"mysongV1.MGU"

"mysongV2.MGU"

And Git-R-Done...

Actually, my thinking was along these lines.

The lyrics have a sort of call and response thing goin on, and they both have a cursory melody. So I wanted both parts to be playing along, at the same time, for when I start generating the bass, guitar, piano, and strings.

So I copied both parts from the melody track to the solo track, deleted the voice 2 notes from the melody track, and deleted the voice 1 notes from the solo track. The lytics play along with both, so whatever there, but now that I have my 2 melodies playng on separate panned tracks, I can start generating some adequate accompaniment.

The only sticky part is where there are simultaneous lyrics from the 2 different voices, but those are not that often, and it's only the lyric display that is affected anyway. The music goes on unhindered.

Wish me luck.

Thanks guys!

Doc K
