After that, I am a firm believer in not attempting to cross any bridges unless and until one appears in front of you.

Today's Operating Systems do indeed seem to need very little in the way of tweaks for us to use as music making machines. That's a good thing.

But - if after running the softwares, going thru the shakedown period, you do encounter a particular problem, then you have to trace down the cause of that problem and find out what it takes to fix things.

But I wouldn't do any tweaks beforehand without first confirming that those tweaks actually need to be done in order to solve a real problem that the machine is exhibiting.
