Hi - I have some sheet music I bought and downloaded from a site that included another file of the music with a ".mtd" suffix. I also downloaded from the site a free player for such files and with the player I can hear and watch the sheet music as it plays. Very nice. I know it is using midi, but, there is no save, export, or anything, it is just a player for .mtd files.
Of course, now I want to convert somehow this file to midi and BIAB so I can play it from any midi player or BIAB. I've tried to see BIAB (and Sonar) could read the file. No luck. I've tried to see if I can internally reroute the player's midi output to BIAB, perhaps while recording - but I'm in a little over my head here. Any solutions out there? Thanks.

Different format is different format.
You might try changing that .mtd to .mid on one and see what loads, though...

Hi Mac - Tried that. No luck. This is a proprietary format by MusicNotes. I tried MidiOx and was able to route the .mtd player into Sonar and record it there. Just needed a little tweaking.

Wow! Is this is a coincidence.
I just did the exact same thing and had the exact same question.
Weird.
I just started to take private voice lessons and the instructor says she "must" have piano sheet music of the songs I want to work with. (I'll argue that point later with her.)
Anyway, MusicNotes had two of the first two songs I want to work on. But one of the songs is in a different key than what I play/sing.
The 'mtd' file is a Midi format so I thought I could open it with BiaB and Voilà! change the key.
But no such luck.

You'd likely do better (and get to it a lot sooner) if you look for a MIDI file of the targeted songs. Still, that won't likely deliver up a piano sheet music chart.
There may be published sheet music for Piano out there on your songs, that is another way to go, but of course the instantaneous key change won't be there for you.
If your teacher expects to see a printed sheet chart for piano accompaniment, you should bite the bullet and purchase same even if you have to end up picking other songs.

Yup, I agree with you. And yes I did find a couple of Midi files too.
But I'll still pursue with her at least once and see if a lead sheet is good enough.
Through the good graces of Google and other searching techniques I did find either full piano scores or lead sheets for every song I was interested in going over except three. Two I'm not surprised about but I found it odd that I couldn't find one for "Those Memories of You" by Alan O'Bryant. Ronstadt, Harris and Parton performed it on their "Trio" album. Great song.
