2012 is gearing up to be the worst year of my life. My wife was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, and will probably die in 2012. My employer will probably close the doors in 2012, making me unemployed at age 59. Personal health issues are also on the rise.
But TODAY, my wife is still alive, and I can kiss her warm beautiful face. I am thankful for that.
TODAY I have A JOB and money to put food on the table for my family. I am thankful for that.
TODAY these cracks on my hands haven't yet spread to the fingertips, so I can still play my guitar. I'm thankful for that.
I'm thankful for friends here on the forum who make me laugh, make me think, and make me amazed by the things they are doing with music.
I'm thankful for the folks at PGMusic, who have provided such amazing and useful software that I look forward to seeing what they'll come up with next.
There is more to be thankful for than there is to be afraid of. Given the choice, I choose to be thankful. "God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind"
Colossians 2:6-7
"As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. "
To anyone else who chooses to define blessing in terms that transcend this earthly arena, I wish you a happy day of thanksgiving. To everyone else, I hope you have a day filled with the love of your families and with all abundance in every way.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
An old chorus says it well:
Count your blessings, name them one by one Count your blessings, see what God has done

Many hugs, many warm and hopeful thoughts, many songs both gentle and rowdy, both soothing and energizing. May we all get what we need, with enough left over to give to others in need. No one is ever alone, and you sure aren't while you're here with us.

We may not see many of our Blessing at the time, though they are there,, but we know all things work to the Goodness of God and to His Good purpose. Thanksgiving is year round. Peace and Blessing to all. Wyndham

I am sorry to hear about your wife. I hope that your prediction does not come to pass, and that she has many years left. I have learned that nothing in life is certain. Neither the beginning, nor the end.
On the other hand, this quote troubles me given the context.
Count your blessings, name them one by one Count your blessings, see what God has done
I do not believe God has done this. I believe in tough times, and luck both good and bad. I hope that good fortune smiles on you, Pat. And I hope God helps us cure these terminal diseases.
Marc

I'll echo what Marc said.
Bless you, Pat & family... and the PG Family as well, of course.

I felt saddened when I read Pat Marr's post concerning his wife. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to the context, but my post was addressed to all in regard to the Thanksgiving holiday and was not intended to reflect on Mrs. Marr's health problems.
If it was construed otherwise, I sincerely apologize.
Don S.

Due to having company from out of town for the past few days, I'm late in my response here... but I want to thank everybody who offered consolation to me and my family. You are good people, and I appreciate you all.
And Don, no apology necessary... I took your post exactly as you meant it: in the context of Thanksgiving.
