As Bob said, he TC-Helicon harmonizer needs either an underlying chord chart to follow (and you can use chord-based harmonies) or it needs a MIDI line to create the harmony with (in which case it will take your voice and adjust the pitches to whatever is in the MIDI file - if it's too far from the original pitch, you'll probably end up with some Dave Seville effect).
