On windows, BIAB 2011 build 319. I play a .MGU file and after playing the first two measures correctly it then continues to play as it should and simultaneously plays from the first measure again. Result is the song overlapping itself as if played from measure 3 and from measure 1 at the same time. It sounds horrible. I tried rendering it to a .WAV file and that worked correctly. The .WAV sounded right. This scares the heck out of me. Will all my files .MGU (I have lots from many years on BIAB)be useless? Please help.....

Here's a clarification after a few more tries. The first 4 bars have no melody, the melody begins in bar 5. When I press play the melody starts playing too early. It starts in bar 3. Then it starts again in bar 5. Result is the melody playing over itself offset by 2 bars. Obviously sounds very bad. Useless. The rendered .WAV file sounds correct.

The song is Cole Porter's Don't Fence Me In. I'm using the Cowboy 1 style, it is all midi. So I just now put a bar setting into bar 1 setting the melody instrument volume to mute. Playback continues to play the melody starting bar 3 (it is written in the file to start in bar 5). Additionally I set the melody volume at the top of the main screen to zero. No change. Playback still starts the melody in bar 3. I would think the melody sound should not be audible at all. I am soooo confused. This has never happened before. :-(

If there is a .wav file of the same name in the same directory it will automatically play that as well. This is likely your problem. remove or rename the wave and that should fix all. Or buy the 2012 version

Yes if you have a file that is the same name as your file (say it's called Dontfenceme.mgu then if you have a Dontfenceme.wav or even .wma ending it will always load that. So you rendered it before, forgot about it but the software is designed to play that along with what is there.

Anyway 2011 is 2 versions old now. Probably you are due to update. I get double my usual sales commission in December so buy now. I used to get x * (0). Now you can put x in it's own wee bracket and put *2 inside. Oh how great! Cash.

With the new mixer you just slide the audio mixer to zero and your playback would be fine.

Pick up the new mixer and all the goodies Santa's bringing boys both bad and good. Girls too, but I can only think of 4 of them and they are all good. Just ask them. LOL.

It could be a wav file playing back on the single Audio track at the same time, to see, Rightclick on "Audio" trackname and select Mute while song is playing - if the second Melody disappears, then you have created a wav file with the same exact filename as the songfile but with a different suffix. Find that file and remove it from the folder or just choose "Kill Audio" from the Audio menu.

Another thing that can happen is that you ahve somehow inadvertently copied and pasted the Melody to the Soloist track, at another point on the timeline and both are playing back. Check the Soloist and Melody tracks to see if the notation there is like that, if so, you can choose to Kill the Soloist track (or the Melody, whichever one is out of sync) from their corresponding Edit menus. (Again, you can choose each track and RightClick and Mute to find out)

If this continues, first reboot the computer just in case there are lost resources. If still no joy, try the "Return to Factory Settings" in the Options menu inside BiaB.

Finally, there is the off chance that you have a corrupted songfile. Likely the only way to fix that would be to hit New and re-enter the song all over again.
