I made my song 1 big chorus to arrange the rhythmn instruments better, shots , holds, excetera. Then the Melody stopped playing over them. I then closed the file and froze the melody and soloist because I wanted a shot after the chorus on chorus 1 and 3, and the soloist disappeared during the second chorus. With the melody and soloist frozen I returned to multiple choruses and the soloist came back, but the shot stayed on all 3 choruses. Can anyone make any sense of this??

Mabey this was a little confusing so I will break it up in the hope of help:

1) I generated entire song in BB with realtracks.

2) I made my song 1 big chorus to arrange the rhythmn instruments better, shots , holds, excetera. Now when I hit "play" , The melody won't play over the changes just on the measures I didn't touch.

3) I closed the song and re-opened and "froze" the melody and soloist before expanding into 1 big chorus.

4) Now frozen, melody plays all 3 choruses. I set the middle chorus 2 as empty but with song UNFOLDED, the realtracks don't follow the rules. When I put the song back to multiple chorus, the soloist plays correctly except now, the middle chorus "shot" I removed plays for all 3 choruses.

help.

Once Unfolded, the settings for Chorus do not apply. (It is all really one long chorus repeated only once now, right?).

I do the Soloist in and out by Muting that track beginning at the bar where I don't want it to be heard, then UNmuting it at the bar where you want it to come in. The Soloist is acvtually generating for the entire song length, but we are simply now controlling when it will be heard or not. Which amounts to the same thing at playback.

Is this what you are trying to communicate?

Thanks Mac , I hope this clears things up:

what I want to do is vary my rests , shots, and holds in the different parts of the song. Now when I unfold the arrangement, I place my rests, shots etc., then when I hit play, still unfolded, the melody won't play those 4 bars, just the backing tracks will play correctly like this:

bars 1-2-3-4 Melody and all play fine

bars 5-6-7-8:

piano told to hold chord, all backing tracks play fine no melody.

bars 9-10-11-12: Melody and all play fine

This is unfolded, as I am placing shots, rests, and hold chords that this happens, even when hitting play button to re-generate the real-tracks.

I just want to place them to make things more interesting as opposed to the same thing every chorus. Hope this can be done.

John,

What instrument is playing the melody? Is it a midi track or Real Track?

When you set up your song, (before unfolding) does the melody track play correctly? If it does, try inserting the push, shots etc before unfolding and see if it unfolds correctly.

If you are using a Real Track on the melody (without any chord changes or shots etc) and then unfold it, the melody should unfold correctly. If you have made changes after unfolding, you need to re-generate your song, if you are using a RT for the melody.

Some RT's may need to be updated to play shots, pushes etc. What RT # are you using for it?

I've been confused by this before too. What I do is get the song set first then do the melody and soloists. Making changes to the song structure after putting in those always messes things up for me. I'm sure there's ways to make it work but that's one of those areas I've just learned to do it my way.

Melody and soloist last and wrap it up. I know, I know, you listen to it and decide you really need to add a repeat or a tag or whatever and as soon as you do that it messes up the melody track.

Oth, it's nice to have the melody there to listen to while you're working on the song. Rather than trying to figure out how to do it programatically you can just accept you will have a problem and when you are done changing the structure, click on the melody track, open up the piano roll window and just copy/paste/delete or edit whatever needs it.

Real Track playing the melody. I start editing the shots and hold chords on the unfolded screen with the idea that I only want those edits during those choruses, not repeated throughout the song.

Ok, gotcha. When you unfold, you get a single chorus play through or from bar 1 to x. If are wanting just the melody to push and NOT the backing tracks, you need to "freeze" them first (backing tracks). Then set up your pushed chords etc and regenerate the melody/soloist parts, or regenerate everything AFTER you have laid out the pushes etc . .

Why don't you upload the file so we can look at it directly to see what is goin on? The problems you describe don't sound right.
