Substyles = are indicated on the chord grid by the different colored blocks overlaying the bar numbers.

Blue is Substyle A, Green is Substyle B and there may be some more colors used for the "Multistyles" styles that have more than two substyles to them.

Clicking on the bar number will either insert a "Part Marker" which is one of those blocks, first click is blue, click again to change to green and so on. Click all the way through to no color to put it back to no Substyle change.

When a substyle change occurs, a Drum Fill is always added to the preceding bar, because that's what drummers do when the song changes from one substyle to another. Many songs do exactly that as they progress.

You can insert the same color substyle anywhere within the region to force a Drum Fill in the previous bar if desired, too.

Experiment with it, that's the best way to get a handle on it.

The variations of RealDrums are just that, actually and you can pick one variation or the other for whatever. They will still respond to the above Part Markers in the song with the same as the MIDI drums do, inserting a Drum Fill before the Marker and changing to match the substyle if the Part Marker is a different color.
