Yes, the Tap button to the right of the Tempo indicator inside Amp3 is used to set the Tempo to the song.
Simply tap it along with the music while your songfile is playing and after a bar or two of that, the correct Tempo should appear in the Amp3 Tempo slot. Provided that you tapped on the beat, of course.
"Tap" Tempo is a rather common method of setting an effect, hardware or software derived, to the beat, for use with effects such as echo, delay, etc.
