Sounds like you are using a software synthesizer. The microsoft software synthesizer is a poor choice. Check out your MIDI output options in BB's Opts.-> MIDI/Audio window.
BIAB comes with the VSC DXi synth, but if you have a version older than bb2009 it is separate install on the install CD. This plus the E-MU ASIO drivers will allow you to play in realtime on your keyboard.
