Hi Dave, I'm not a drummer, but I've heard jazz waltzes played in a heap of different ways. I guess that like anything musical, the end result is always what sounds right for the given circumstances. I also imagine that at different periods in time, different patterns have prevailed. Below is a link to some notation for Jazz Waltzes. I'm sure if you did a search, a great deal more notation can be found. http://www.studydrums.com/jzwalz01.htmlFor what it's worth, I had a look in the Realdrum Picker and the following list of Jazz Waltzes are available as Realdrums.
