Hello,

I have Windows BIAB 2012 with all styles.

I have added three separate 2-bar solo licks to my score at bars 10, 20 and 40. Now I want to remove the solos at bars 10 and 40 but keep the solo at bar 10.

I went to the top menu bar and selected: Soloist/Edit Soloist Track/Delete Beats From Soloist Part and selected the beats of bars 20-21. the 'Solist Notation' pane shows the notes have been deleted and is clear.

When I play back, the soloist still plays.

If I select to 'Kill Entire Soloist Part' this does work and I lose all my solos. I have tried searching the manual and forums but I can't find what I'm doing wrong.

I would reallly appreciate it if anyone can help with removing the soloist from selected bars.

Many thanks.

ClassicMan,

If you are referring to a midi solo, the easiest way to get rid of the notes is to open the Piano Roll view, select the "Soloist" tracks (see image below) and then delete the notes.

If, on the other hand, you are referring to Realtracks solos, I don't know of a way to specifically remove sections from a solo using the Soloist's tools. What I would so is to save the solo as a wav file, take it to a DAW, delete the sections I didn't want and then load the solo back into the "Audio" track of BIAB.

When I find myself in a similar situation to you, I usually:

1. save the song with a new file name (so that I always have the old version to go back to);

2. kill the entire solo;

3. keep regenerating the solo in the section I want until I get something that "works" for me.

My experience is that it if BIAB can generate a good solo once, there's always another one equally good that's just a couple of regenerations away!

Regards,
Noel

F5 to open Bar Settings. Then select "mute" for soloist. You will need to mute the soloist on every bar where you want it muted and don't forget to go to the bar(s), F5 again and select "return to normal" where you want it to play those bars.

... or what Trax said! While it doesn't "delete" any parts, it will let you hear only the bars you want. I completely overlooked the obvious

I don't think you need to mute in every bar... just the starting point to mute. It will stay muted until you tell it to play again.. Then when you want it to be heard, set to 'Return to normal'. After the solo, then mute again in the next bar.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Now I'm saving each BB chart that has a solo I like. This way works for me.

Thanks again.
