Just as the holidays end and I get ready to start back to the day job, I finished a music project. A cover project. We discussed a little in a previous thread where tommyc provided his now classic rendition of this same tune. Since I can't compare to his version, or Judy's for that matter, I thought I would upload here.

My only comments, "I had fun " and " ..my eyes were closed and the headphones were blastin for the vocals.." Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Don't know what to say, I have three (3) computers in my studio - all runnng IE and all play this song without a hitch. Never had any troubles uploading in the past. Rharv suggested to R-Clk and save-as. John had me look for a period - I don't see any in the URL, so If anyone else can confirm a continuing problem I will start from scratch and try again.

Firefox still won't find it.

I can get to www.jazzmandan.com

but adding the ending parts ...no joy.

Probably have to try to enter the thing again after my post.

refreshed and emptied cache, still no ceegar! but, i think it's me. been having problems with yahoo for a couple of days. keeps saying that i have a screen resolution problem when i don't. why would i suddenly have a resolution problem?

dan, if i go to your site, is it posted yet? that's all that i know to try.

had trouble playing robh's music on soundcloud too.

i may hafta "restore to earlier date" if i can't sort it. weird, everything else works fine.

just went to your site and your tunes played flawlessly! strange.

houston, we have lift-off and all engines are burning!

i like it dan. i agree with you that it's a beautiful song.

forgive me, but i think your vocal would benefit from melodyne or autotune, especially when you're reaching for those highs. you are both sharp and flat in several places and you seemed out of your comfortable range, vocally speaking. you may have better control if you dropped it 2 semitones. you are struggling with the song and it's obvious even with my ears. in summary, you have a nice, professional start. try dropping it a full step and see if you are more comfortable singing.

you have a nice voice, you simply need to work on your control and that will come with practice.

good work, my friend.

Don, I appreciate the comments. In my mind the notes are flying and free, but when they come out my mouth they are grounded and hindered . I worked with a vocal teacher for a period, so I know that I need to refrain from going outside of my range, but like the old song says "..momma always told me not to look into the eye of the sun, but momma, that's where the fun is".

The songs melody, when song straight in the key of C, goes from an A up over an octave to a D. I feel I am comfortable with that range and I don't think I strained when I sung it straight (the first time through) - which is what my vocal couch would tell me to do. But, when she is not listening I want to push the boundaries. In the second time through at the end of the song, I do venture up to an E and then to even an F. While I think I tend to hit it, I do admit it sounds strained! ugh! Lowering the key is not an option as the bass note becomes too low for me (at least I think so. I should probably try this).

Thanks again, of course all comments are welcome.

Don, I just spent 60 minutes looking at every note in the second time through (Melodyne Editor). Some can be fixed via melodyne - and indeed need to be fixed. I am going to give it one more go, including resinging parts where necessary. I think I can do a little better to improve the vocals.

i used windows media player then CTRL-U put the URL in clicked Ok

learning to control our voices seems much harder than playing and manipulating other instruments

i like the arrangement keep at it
