I don't understand these sound sythns at all. I installed BIAB 2009 everything on my PC which has Windows Vista a 32 bit system. I installed all three sythns.That being Roland VSC-3, Roland VSC DXI and the one called VST. All show up in my midi output window, but ONLY VSC 3 plays back sound when I play a song.I checked marked the box that says use DXI sythn and a window opens up. I choose VSC DXI and closed out the window and clicked ok. Then I started to play my song and BIAB informs me I cannot use that that DXI because it is in use? Huh? I only have one music program and that is BIAB 2009. So HOW do I get Roland VSC DXI to play? I haven't a clue. BTW, what is VST anyway?

VST is an acronym for Virtual Studio Technology. They are software effects unit such reverb, tone controls, compressors and so on. If an i is added, as in VSTi, that means it's an instrument (synth). VSTi technology was developed by Steinberg. Dxi was developed by Cakewalk (I think), and uses Microsoft direct-x as it's base.
VST or DX, the software itself is just a .dll file, installed wherever you tell the installer to put it, but usually in c:\program files\plugins or something similar.
VSC is an acronym for virtual sound canvas, made by Roland. VSC.dll is version 1.0.0.0 on my system and it is dxi software. I'm not sure what VSC3 is -- a later version maybe?
As for your problem, are you by any chance running the VSC stand-a-lone when you run biab? If you're running asio sound drivers, they'll only run one thing at a time.
Even if you're not running any other programs, I suggest starting out with mme audio drivers. See if you can get that going and post back. Let us know what steps you're taking and what problems you're having. Good luck.
