Sort of hard core country, another tune for my February RPM CD. A little bit of a tough sing for me -- there are just certain notes here that I couldn't hit if I tried a million times. It's not the notes themselves, maybe the interval, how it mixes with the music -- I just can't get the brain to cooperate.

I asked for chorus help here and I have five singers laying down eight backing tracks. I hope you enjoy it.

Note: Lot's of "s's" in the chorus. We could fix that if we were all in the same room, but ....

(V1) Sometimes love ends like a dying fire
Folks’ hearts just grow old and tired
But with you I see a great commotion
that’ll end in a big explosion

(Ch) When that hammer comes down
I don't want to be around
It's a messy situation
From which there'll be no salvation

(V2) Oh, I've heard it all before
With me you'll sweep this floor
It looks like our love’s not gonna last
I’d better get outta here and fast.

(Ch) (and you know why, cause) When that hammer comes down
I don't want to be around
It's a messy situation
From which there'll be no salvation

(Instrumental Break)

(V3) So I’m on the road again
Think I might end up where I began
Hey look, there's a honky tonk up ahead
I need love, but a beer will do instead

(Ch) ‘Cause when that hammer comes down
I don't want to be around
It's a messy situation
From which there'll be no salvation
... and we’re all looking for salvation
