I run BIAB 2012 b349 with all styles installed. All styles category shows a quantity of 3,011. The upper line of the stylepicker shows Total styles entry : 4,773. Another guy told me he got 8,286 entries. What is the right value ? What could be the cause of this difference ? --------- John-Luke

Hi John-Luke,
I have the UltraPlusPak 2012(349) with 3,019 styles and 8,383 style entries.
My take on this is that the number of independently different styles is 3,019 and that some of these styles are multiply listed in different categories. For example, some rock styles are listed in country, etc. As I said, this is just my take on the situation; I have no idea if my thinking is correct. It will be interesting to see what others say.
In the meantime, have you tried (a) re-building your style picker list and (b) clicking on "Find new styles" option?
Do you run BIAB as fully installed on the internal hard-drive?
Regards, Noel

Thanks Noel for your help. yes, I did rebuild the stylepicker, I also deleted the two *.lsw files and then rebuilded the stylepicker. I also clicked on 'Find new styles option'. I always get 4,773 styles entries. That is for my BIAB installed on my internal drive. On my external drive, I got more than 11,000 styles entries. That looks very strange to me.

I have sometimes noticed that running the Stylepicker Rebuild again on a folder, say in order to have it include new songs added to the folder, that the thing will count many songs TWICE. Don't know what causes this, and it has happened sporadically for quite some time now, going back a few versions. On my system, it eventually somehow corrected itself after a few more Rebuilds.
I did report this once during one of the past Beta tests, don't think it was reproducible at pgmusic at the time IIRC.
My own investigations seemed to point the finger at the File Indexing in XP, whether it was toggled on or off, but even that soon proved to be somewhat erratic when using the Rebuild, though it performed slightly better.
See if your Rebuild has added doubled instances f(the same style being listed two or possibly more times in the Stylepicker, could be in the same place or in different categories, adding to the overall count...

Thanks Mac for all your technical inputs about this topic. But the expected value of total styles entries is rather 4,773 styles entries than somewhat like 8,200 entries ?

I can't add to the help here, but it has raised a couple questions ... I have 2012 EverythingPak so I 'should' have all the styles there are, or is that not a good assumption ? In the pic below, which is the correct number of total styles ? As listed on the left under 'All Styles' 3,019 or at the top right, shown as 4,157 ? I would expect these two numbers to match ?.. no ?

I have commented many times that the styles listed as "other styles found" are listed twice. I have tried deleteing the "a_found.ls3" file but BIAB always regenerates it with every style listed twice again.

Hi MitchC The total quantity of styles you have is given in the category All Styles, so it's 3,019 for you. Re. Total styles entries, we may have some differences in the value. The total styles entries value is always higher than the All styles value, because some styles are listed twice or more in several categories. --------- John-Luke

Some report finding too many styles found, others report not enough styles found, there has got to be a reason for this bug...

Aren't some styles utilizing the same tracks and that's the reason for the number variations?

There are about 3000 different styles, so that's the correct listing for All Styles.
The number in the title bar isn't really that important, since each style can have multiple entries (in different categories). In fact, the number of entries is over 13,000. Not sure why it isn't counting them all (same in my testing).

Andrew, your input is welcome. Two people having all the available styles should get the same value for the Total Style Entries. Just curious. Anyway, this situation is not harmful for the BIAB users. -------- John-Luke

I’ve done further investigations about the differences of quantity of styles. Following categories don’t report the right quantity in the stylepicker : Blues Country All Jazz All Latin All Rock/Pop All RealStyles All Styles w/RealDrums.
For the Blues category: the quantity of styles displayed in the stylepicker is 284; expected quantity according the BBW.LST : 285. my finding is that the =BLWOLF.STY file is missing.
Can somebody confirm this finding about this missing style ?

I am running BinaB 2012 windows Ultrapluspak direct from my C drive--copied everything across
And I get Total Style Entries(shown at the top) 8,290
All Styles 3,010 Other styles 98
I get very confused about the whole layout on this page
I assume that the system summates the All Styles @3,010 with all the totals in the subsections listed below in the window
My window also has a section called "New Realtracks all @ 77and then lists them in types below--not sure where it lists the rest--I assume they are included in various styles
