+100 Don't rely on BIAB to compose a song for you. Later, Ray
I am not sure how strict you are here, but I wouldn't shut any door to composing. Sometimes by allowing BIAB to create a section, I can come up with some interesting stuff. Normally, I write lyrics and may or may not have a definite melody picked out before the chords are set -- so the melody might follow the chords (instead of writing the chords to support the melody).

Mitch, I feel sure that this one has come up before not so long ago (I remember responding to it). Perhaps if you look over on the specific BIAB board you will find those threads.
Kind regards,
Marc

Very tiny piece of advice about your original music. Get it down on paper, or better yet if you have a phone with recording memo's, sing the ditty or song into it. Do not try to make it exact, just get the idea down and saved.
An idea for song can be very fleeting, sometimes never comes back.
Then again, the late great Rich Mullins NEVER wrote his songs down on paper until after they were recorded in the final and he had to provide the lyrics for the jacket.
He always said that if he had to write it down in order to remember it that it wasn't worth recording.
And he always came up with songs that were memorable by doing that.
Roger Williams did things the same way.

I'm new to BAIB, and am not sure what it is capable of. I have a number of songs recorded (in wave files) They are a trio of voices with accompanying guitar. Before we recorded them, we'd written the music (3 voices) in Noteworthy. I can save the Noteworthy files as midi's. How can I use BAIB to generate instrumental back-up for these existing songs? Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

I clicked on 'Reply (4)', because I assumed I'd find 4 'replies' when I clicked on it. Sorry, my mistake. However, if the 4 does mean there are replies, how do I get to them? Barisha

Welcome. You're new so no big deal with resurrecting a really old post. However, you'd be just fine with a new post asking this question.
So first off... Be sure to check out the support page where there's a lot of videos to take you from the very beginning up through advanced stuff.
I'd suggest that the easiest way is to start a new song project.
There's a feature called the automated chord wizard that examines a wave like you have and figures out the chords and tempo and creates the backing tracks. I've found that it's a bit complicated at times and can be either dead on or frustrating beyond measure in it's accuracy. More than once it was faster to type in the chords.
I guess it depends on if you want to try to use the existing track or if you can record the vox again.
I don't work with midi in BB or RB. So I don't know what to tell you about using midi in it. I've never done that. I'm sure its possible.
I work with midi in my DAW software. Sonar x1 is what I use when I need midi. In Sonar, each midi track is assigned to a synth and the midi out is sent to the synth in. A patch or sample is loaded up in the synth and it will play the midi track data as audio.
In BB, i believe the synth is either coyote or tts by default. I recall playing around with kontakt once and it will work. It's just that I rarely use it to be able to explain it in BB. Others do use this and I'm sure PG music has a video tutorial in the support page for this.

You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

I found this message under 'Latest Topics', I think it was a response to my question.....

Thanks for your recommendations. Let me first say, I've never done 'forums' before either and I don't know how they work or how to navigate/use them properly. Keeping that in mind:
Creating a 'NEW POST' with my question. What are the steps to do that? 'The support page' you mentioned. If there's a link, could you possibly provide it? Are there'step by step' instructions on how to effectively navigate/use the forum?
Thanks, Barisha

So... easy to post a new topic. When you click into any of the forums here.... the very first option that should be displayed under the banner for the forum is POST NEW TOPIC. Click that and it lets you create a new topic thread. It is on the top left directly above the SUBJECT/POSTER tab. The support option is in the top banner. Here's the link: https://www.pgmusic.com/videos.bbwin.htm
