My Happiness is an old Connie Francis hit. I did this one as a practice song for my wind controller.

I used the BiaB style “Percy-slow-12/8 50s Pop”. The piano, bass, drums and string tracks are from that style, just modified to better fit the song. I am playing the guitar as well as the wind controller. The sax sound is the tenor sax #4 from Garritans J&BB.

Let me know what you think.

Sweet. The sax sounds great, Mario, as does the guitar. I'm not sure about the drums -- they sound a little mechanical... might need a little humanizing, or maybe just to have the volume lowered to blend them more into the mix. But that's just me nitpicking -- overall, excellent!

Best,

Mario, the brushes sound like unadulterated noise to my tired old ears - they are pulling your performance down.

I fell madly in love with Connie from the movie Where The Boys Are. Do you remember that one? It was a serious-comeedy about Spring Break and college kid's shenanigans in Fort Lauderdale but it ended in her suicide.

The old Irishman makes a good point, changing out the brush drums to something smoother and letting just the piano stay there to accent the same beats would take it over the top.

Mac, this tired old Irishman will turn 71 tomorrow, the 15th! I don't celebrate my birthday, just saying. Maybe I'll finally get some respect 'round here.

Don.

I've only been on this forum a short while, but you've already earned my respect!

It's coming up midnight on the 14th here in the UK, so let me be the first to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

ROG.

ROG, Aw pshaw! You make me blush! Actually, I think that my friend Mac is blushing too.

Is it for a fact that you Brits have a new five pound coin? If so, please 'splain how you keep your knickers up on the walk to the pub. Inquiring minds, y'know.

I understand the not-celebrating-the-birthday thing... but I don't think it's out of line to celebrate you, ye spiffy auld Irishman, you.

Pat, using my faithful Hopalong O'Cassidy encoder/decoder ring, I get "Hide Behind Dumpster" and several other codes. Zat right?

Two things:

First and most important Happy birthday Don! I pray you will have many more to come.

Second – when I do a song for practice I generally let BiaB do it’s thing, as I did on most of the tracks for this one and I just play along. I took extra time to modify the backing tracks, especially during the chorus, for this one because I really like this song. However it appears, as the drums are a sore spot. My question to you is what should I do to improve them? Use a completely different beat? Trap set? Both? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A little EQing might be all it needs -- maybe a low pass filter or somethin'.

Hi Frank,

I have a number of Chet’s LPs in my collection. I really like his playing also.

Personally I am not a very good finger picker so trying to play something like him is totally impossibly for me.
