John,
It sounds like you have the old +/- files from earlier versions of Realtracks. What version of BIAB are you currently running? Is the version of BIAB that's on your ST-42 computer the same version?

I'm not sure I understood this post, but one thing that is least likely to help BIAB is a registry cleaner. BIAB does not write anything substantive to the registry.
Defrag could make an improvement.
Can you download and run Geekbench and post your score? That would tell us whether your computer can run without the +/- files.
Note: If English is not your first language, there are other forums here for various common languages.

**First, DEFRAG your hard drive. Do this even though Windows defragger will likely report that you don't have to do so at this time -- Windows knows nothing about the type of streaming audio work we have to do.
There is a neat free program called, "Defraggler" that you can download from the Piriform site. This is a good piece of code that works better and faster than the Windows Defrag that comes bundled and can be found in the Start->Accessories->System.
**3 Hours is a long time for a single session, long enough for resources to get bashed easily. The program had likely filled up your available physical RAM and then tried to do (shudder) disk cache swapping. That may work fine for a word processor or a spreadsheet program, but it does not do so good when faced with realtime necessities such as streaming audio (or video!). When I did use Band in a Box in live performance, I made a habit out of REBOOOTING the computer between sets. I also turned off ALL power saving features in the Control Panel, changing them to "Always On" for the AC power provision. Also turn off screen savers, screen blankers, and never put the laptop or even the desktop to "sleep" -- which can cause the OS and the program to lose focus on critical drivers such as the soundcard or other sound device.
HTH,

thanks Macv. I do defrag sometimes 2 times a week. I will try rebooting after each set. Most of the time we only do hour shows in nursing home or elderlys which have never had a problem. We have had pretty good luck moving songs back and forth but we really should try trhem before going live. I love biab for live and recording. last summer we played during the horses or inbetween them run though big PA with subs and it sounded great thanks for the help John

**Very good idea to prepare a song or three that you can play WITHOUT the use of BiaB when using laptop, BB and such in live performance. Something that will still entertain the audience while you reboot a computer, maybe because of a freeze, or just to get back resources, etc. I never tell my audience that I'm rebooting onstage, or waiting on my computer, etc. - as far as they are concerned, I/We have just presented them with an intimate performance of a song or two that does not have full accompaniment. This not only gets the performer(s) out of onstage puter problems without letting your audience know that there are troubles onstage, it ofen adds MORE to the overall performance presentation. Such can also represent a change of pace for the performer(s) az well.
