In all these years, more than ten, I have always installed new versions of BB overtop of older versions -- and have NEVER lost a single song or bit of data that was saved previously.

When you say the Melodies are "gone" -- please clarify -- do you mean that you cannot even see the notes on the track anymore (doubtful) or that you simply cannot hear them play now (probable)?

If the latter is the case, look for settings that can keep you from hearing a part, such as MUTE going on for that track, etc.


Another thing that can cause one not to hear the Melodies is if the Melody parts are using the MIDI soloists and your BB has somehow lost focus on your chosen MIDI output device. An easy way to get around all of this without a lot of digging is to try the Return to Factory Settings under the Options menu and hit the Second Button, which not only resets BiaB, but invokes the MIDI and Audio selection wizard process.
