I've got 2012 ultraPlus pak a while ago, in a USB HDD.
Did the minimum installation, but upon clicking Band-in-a-Box.exe, the program
tries to start, but never fully comes up.
I see a screen with
"counting candidate plugins. please wait 2:49 [Jazz swing style]", and it stop responding.
Waited for an hour, but no luck. Does this mean I have to wait almost 3 hours????
After the installation, I still do not see any shortcuts on program or desktop. I did
reinstall, but no change.
(Windows 7 (64) with 8GB ram)
Please help.

Hmm.
Try this.
With BB completely shut down:
Look inside the bb folder on the USB drive and locate a file named, "intrface.bbw"
MOVE that file outside of the bb folder. To anywhere but the bb folder.
Now try to start BB by doubleclicking on the BiaB icon located at the first level of the USB drive.
Does it start now?
If so, you can delete that file that you moved.

I've looked both C: and USB dirve's bb folder but there is no intrface.bbw.
Is that why it is not working? I might have to contact PGmusic.

Hi Mike,
The file will be there. Did you double-check the spelling? For some reason, the large number of brains (mine included) read this as "interface.bbw" when, in actual fact, there is no "e"; it's "intrface.bbw"
This file contains user settings. If it is not in the BIAB directory, BIAB will simply create a new version of the file when it starts up. Thus the program will start whether or not the file is there. By moving it out of the BB directory, you are forcing BIAB to create a new version of the file (it's like using "return to factory settings").
Also, look for the file BBW.EXE and see if double-clicking that will start the program.

Noel,
I could not find intrface.bbw. What I found was BBW.exe in USB drive.
It started the program and also created intrface.bbw in USB drive, not in C:
I don't know if it's the right way, but nonetheless, it is working.

Hi Mike,
If you are running BIAB from the USB drive, it sounds like you might need to re-install. During the re-installation process, a link is written to the start menu that associates with BBW.EXE on the USB drive.
What I suggest you do is to email PG Music support and give them the URL of this thread so that they can see the problem and what works. They might have a suggestion for you, too, that I don't know about.
Also, if you are running the program from the USB drive, I encourage you to get hold of a second USB drive and copy the entire drive from PG Music onto that as it is always good to have a back up (if you haven't done so already). I never trust computers.
