1. Is there a way of setting
(Edit>Settings for this Song>) Generate 2 bar ending to 'off' as default ?
2. What are the circumstances/settings which sometimes make the chord entry enclosure on the main screen leap around (on 'Enter'), probably not quite randomly, but not to the next slot ?

Options - Preferences - Arrange button - Set the "Allow any Endings" checkbox = "Off" (cleared).
Sorry, don't know about number two.

Much obliged, FirstBassman. I had looked in Options - Preferences -(several buttons) but not 'Arrange'. Many thanks.
Does any one at least recognise the thing with the chord entry frame ?
It's difficult to pin down because I think it is a glitch of some kind.
It typically happens when there is already a set of chords entered, and I want to revise part of the sequence manually.
I make a note of what I want to put in, select the starting point, put in (chord name), <Enter> and look up at the screen to find the box several bars away. If you don't check, it' s easy to completely randomise the harmony of an arrangement very quickly !
My impression is that when Biab gets into this mode, it actually moves a fixed number of bars each move , but not necessarily the same number each occasion the glitch appears.
It doesn't happen all the time, which means it can catch me off-guard when it does.

And as a pendant arising from my attempts to find the answers before asking questions:
I bought Biab as 2007, and have upgraded as far as 2008.5. I use the PDF manual a lot because it is so searchable.
Is there a 2008 or 2008.5 version, and if so is it available for download? I have searched on several different terms in the site search without locating anything.

If it is always jumping 2 bars it could be that the lead in is affecting the bar number?

*Make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest update patch for our version.
*I have never had this happen, so I don't think its a bug or the like.
*If all else fails, remember, whenever BIAB doesn't do what it is supposed to do, try a reboot of the machine first, if still no joy, go to Opts. menu inside BIAB and try the Return to Factory Settings. There may be a need to regenerate a corrupted volatile file and this will do that for you. Then try again.
