I looked for the electric guitar credit on Seals & Crofts' first album and couldn't find any. Then someone told me that Dash had a pickup on his mandolin and ran it through a couple of stomp boxes and into a Marshall amplifier. Has anyone done that with ukulele yet?

Of course they have. Hell, first hit on Google showed a solid-body bass uke. Now, when do the light metal bands start happening?

I don't know if they've done that with a uke, but I have played a bass uke which uses those rubber strings that were used on the Fernandes bass 10 years or so ago. http://www.bassuke.com/U-Bass.html Played that at NAMM in 2009, very fat tone, almost WAL-bass like, for those of you that know what that is.

I guy in our uke club brought one to demo. Personally, I thought it was pretty cool, too.

OK, thanks Mac. I'll try that.

My reference to "My Dog Has Fleas" was to point out that on my uke tuned A-D-F#-G,
the "A" is higher in pitch than all the other strings. (so maybe I should have written it a-D-F#-B, i.e. with a lowercase "a").

I believe that for the GCEA tuning, the strings are pitched low to high.

I knew what you wanted, the My Dog Has Fleas does indeed have the A sounding as right next to the top B if on a linear keyboard instrument.

The BB uke in C does indeed do this, I just checked it again.

Its called reentrant tuning when, say in GCEA the G on the 4th string is higher. Often written gCEA. This is the stringng most ukes come with in the store. But low G is becomming increasingly popular, also known as linear tuning. Its what I use exclusively.

I am wanting BIAB to improve the implementation of four string instruments in the chord solo maker, in fact improve that feature generally...

There are lots of uke topics discussed here:

http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/index.php

It's interesting that some many like the different tunings and sizes. I have a low G string on my tenor uke and like the sound of it the best.YMMV
