Ok guys here goes......I have a brand new win7 laptop and a very old Biab 2008 when trying to fire everything up.....I get the error message that 'Output driver is installed properly but is currently in use by another program" Microsoft GS wavetable synth on using the midi output driver wizard I only have the Microsoft GS wavetable Synth which I am being repeatedly told is in use by another program So ok here goes I KNOW I need to upgrade to the newest version 2012 ($300.00 is out of my range right now) I also know if I fiddle around guessing and downloading stuff to try to fix this I will tangle the heck out of my new machine like I did the last one (I had it working on a 4 year old Vista machine) so my question is..........is there any legit work around beyond upgrading for me? Realband can't work as it is now (no sound) I DO indeed plan to upgrade as soon as I can I am brand new to this board and not sure I can find my way back till I get used to things here so you can contact me at j.yonks@gmail.comhoping for a miracle fingers crossed John

Hello and welcome.
BIAB 2008 does run under Windows 7, according to a few other fairly recent threads. Of course, as you say, the update to 2012 would be very nice to have.
Under 'Support' you will find a whole series of FAQ and if you do a search using Ctrl+F, you can find advice about that 'in use' error. If you don't find it, write back and we'll find the link for you.
I highly recommend you stay on this forum rather than go to email, since there are many of us who can help you in a public forum.
You should, however, be in another area of this site, the 'regular' BIAB for Windows forum, rather than here in the Wishlist.
Post your specs, especially the sound card or soft synth you are using, so we can help you with drivers. There are only a few situations where you must use ASIO4ALL.
