Some insight does come with experience. There are general categories listed (blues, country, jazz, rock, etc) that categorize the styles to some extent - selecting one of these will limit the window to appropriate styles. You can also use the columns listed to determine if it is an 8th note style, a 16th note style, a strait rhythm, or a swing rhythm, etc. This helps get the feel you are after. Beyond that, I find the "preview on double click" helpful. You can set your song to loop, then "audition" styles using the double click preview in the style picker. You can also use the "search" feature to search a particular song or artist. Hope that helps a little. The large number of styles is really a blessing, not a curse.
