go to where the 2/4 measure would be, press F5 and change the beats per bar value to 2 (it probably says 0, the default that normally means 4). Then go to the next measure and press F5, and put in a 4 to restore the rest of the song to 4/4

That's the same idea I had. Result: Everything after bar 2/4 +1 is messed up completely.

In the meantime I deleted 2 beats from the melody to continue my arrangement (It's not really what I want)

After changing the specified bar to 2 beats, we must also do the same keystrokes involving the bar hat follows that bar and CHANGE IT TO 4 AGAIN.

Otherwise, all bars following your change will try to be 2 beat bars.

If that doesn't do the trick, try using the File -> Insert Bar(s) command and Insert a single new bar at the point in question. That should move all the rest of the bars one to the right while adding a single empty bar. Then use the F5 command on that bar, change it to 2 beats and again don't forget to do the same thing in the following bar, changing to 4 beats again.
