Step 1, A, First, Uno, Eine, Prime.....
Make a GREAT demo. Take in at least a CD, or a video DVD if possible, and sell yourself to places you know have small act entertainment. It is painful for me to see that so few places have full bands anymore, but it is what it is. If you go teh DVD route, invest in one of those small desktop players with the 7 inch screen and you can show them your act instead of talk about it.
Of course, in my case, a DVD will do nothing to enhance my chances of getting hired, but I'm just sayin'....
