Is it possible to print the solo / improvisation part that is generated by BIAB? I tried using the pull-down menu Window -> Lead Sheet Window, and then clicking on S for the solo part, but the melody stave remains empty.
Thanks, Paul

Yes
From the main window Press <CTRL><W> This will bring you to the notation window There is a bar that has a button Opt then a graphic of notes them Print, Just after LoopScan are buttons with the letters B D P G S M S #. This allows you to select which track you want to focus on. Click on S for Solo to focus on the solo (Note you can also print the other tracks Bass, Piano, Guitar, Strings, Melody).
from options you can set up how things are printed and from the Note button you can set up to show a lead sheet.
By setting the Solo ist to a Guitar track you will get both notation and tab, By setting it to a piano track you can get right and left hands, etc.

Hi Paul,
The answer is yes - mostly in midi form
Just remember that in "Print Options" to select "Whole Song" or select what you require in "Custom" or otherwise you will just see First or Last Choruses which are generally the melody line jazzman

Certain of the RealTracks will not make notation.
If the part is in Green up top, indicating a RealTrack on the Soloist or any other part that is soloing, it must have an underscore below the track name to notate. This is because BIAB notation is taken from MIDI data and until the recent release of BB2009, the RealTracks did not have corresponding MIDI data for them. Now, many do. Look for the underscore.
If the Soloist part in question is highlighted in Yellow instead of Green, it is indicating a MIDI-based solo and all of those will print notation.

Thanks PapaMikie and Jazzman.
I tried this.
I switched to the Notation window (ctrl-W).
I click on the "M" icon. The piece I'm working with has the intro line for the first four bars. The melody starts at bar 5 and continues to bar 60. These bars are filled in with the melody line. Then the bar numbering continues with 5(2), 6(2), 7(2), etc, but the bars are empty, I suppose because they are used to contain the solo line. If I click on the second "S" icon, then I see that first 60 bars are empty, and the bars following 5(2), 6(2), etc are filled in with the solo line, as expected.
When I try to print this, I can only see the melody line in the Print Preview window. The bars following the melody are empty. I chose the option "Whole Song" for the print range, but the solo line wasn't visible.

Have you first clicked on the S in the Sheet window?
If you want to display and print both Melody track and Soloist track, you can hold down the ctrl key and select both the M and the S.
If you have indeed clicked on the S and don't see the notes you know are there, try Opts. -> Return to Factory Settings, something could have become corrupted.

Mac,
What do you mean, the "Sheet Window", is this the same as the Notation window?
When I select the Notation window (ctrl-W), and click on the "M" icon, I can see the Melody line. When I hold the ctrl key and simultaneously click on the "M" followed by the "S" (solo) key, the melody line disappears, and the solo line is displayed after bar 60.
So it doesn't work. I also did the factory as you suggested, but it didn't make any difference.

No.
Click on the toolbar button with the two 8th notes to open the "Lead Sheet Window".
At the top to the right of where it says, "Menu" should be those same buttons --
[ B ][D][P][G][S][M][S]
But here we can hold down the ctrl key and click more than one. You can display them all if needed. --Unless the version you are using is quite long iong in the tooth.

Ok, thanks Mac found it :<)
It still doesn't work.
When I click on the second "S" icon to get the solo part, the first 60 melody bars are blank, except for the chord changes, and the solo part is displayed on bars 61 onwards (numbered as bars 5a(2) etc, as before.
WHen I then click on the "Print" icon, followed by "OK - preview graphics", BIAB pops up a windows "From cannot be greater than thru" Searching for this message in the on-line Help yields nothing.
Any ideas?
Paul

"From cannot be greater than thru"
Sounds like you may have typed the two numbers into each other's slots.
Try switching them around and see what happens.

Mac,
I see what's happening.
In the Leadsheet Window, when I click on "M", the melody line is displayed in the first 60 bars, and bars 61 onwards (displayed as 5a(2), etc) are empty, as expected. When I click on "Print" followed by "OK - Peview/graphics", the print preview for the first 60 bars with the melody line is displayed as expected. Also, as expected, since the solo line is empty, bars 61 onwards are not displayed.
Going back to the Leadsheet Window, when I click on "S", the melody line in the first 60 bars is cleared as expected, and when I try to print as before, the preview is displayed, this time with an empty melody line as expected. Before printing, I ensured that the window was displaying the start of the song. However, I cannot display the preview of the solo line corresponding to bars 61 onwards, only the first 60 bars are displayed.
However, if I go back yet again to the Leadsheet Window, and scroll forward to bar 61 containing the solo line, and then try to preview the print, the message pops up "From cannot be greater than thru". It seems that the printing works from the current position in the Worksheet Window; however, printing cannot proceed beyond the numbers of bars displayed in the Chord Window.
Appears to be a bug, unless I've done something wrong. If it's a bug, I'm surprised no one else has tried to print the solo part as a leadsheet, and reported it before me.
Thanks again, Paul

Hi Paul,
It may be that you are not doing things correctly or there may be a corrupted file on your installation
I can print the melody line (heads in and heads out) and the soloist middle choruses below it in the format of a double treble clef stave - with intro and ending this is 166 bars printed
There is certainly no bug as far as I am concerned - PM me and I can talk you through it jazzman
